    Starting Problem 87 Turbo Targa

Yeah.... I'm at the end of my build and I had the same problem. Like he said, white and brown wires are the ECU's ground wires and need to be grounded (not hooked to the started bolt ). Make sure you ground to the ignition coils is good. Make sure you have no fuel leaks.

    Another Head Bolt Re-Torque Thread

The way I've done my 4cylinder several times is basically set the torque wrench to the final torque and just walk it around the torques sequence. 7m's may be different though idk.

A bunch of electrical questions with pics.

Uh, real quick... Saw in that last photo you had those white and brown wires to the power wire from the battery to the starter. I did that on mine, and the fuel relay kept humming (on) and things went a little haywire. I hooked those to ground and my car runs now. Just curious because I...

    test pipes

Or at least for the back Cat, do what I did. Take it off and gut it. Usually a hammer, long pole (probably 2') and 1/2" thick. I just knocked all the craps outta mine, and the front one since it has the long pipe off the back and the bend off the turbo up front, I let my brother have it and...

    Targa top/How I love it

I love my targa top... haven't gotten the car running yet, but playing with the Kenwood, daydreaming with the top off one night I fell in love with it. Yeah I'm thinking about channelling some steel and reinforcing (?) the chasis for targa top performance... in chase cruising and someone wants...

    smells like rotten eggs?

Usually that would put out the smell with black smoke I'ld figure, if it's just the smell, I would figure the battery. Or at least check it.

    Probably jumping the gun...

For anybody still reading this. Found out one big problem with it cranking up. There was a shop rag caught up in the Throttlebody butterfly. Yes I know, I stuffed a red shop rag into the 3000 pipe ( car sits outside ) so nothing could get in, and I guess I forgot to pull it out...

    quick question, possible rodknock issue.

Never heard of a crank pulley knocking, usually they just fall off. I just got my motor half-donkey running ( unless spraying starting fluid down it's throat (big fuel leak )) And I have a 'rod knock' at the same RPMs. I keep hearing it from my turbo though... I gotta let it build up some...

    smells like rotten eggs?

OKAY!! Enough of the cracking already. I've never heard of exhaust smelling like eggs either. First- Figure out where the smell is coming from, try the car on and let it idle, don't pop the hood leave it closed. Go to the tail pipe and see if there's any smell. Second- With car still...

how do you take off the oil drain from turbo??

I just got mine in. I'm guessing you got the Banjo bolt out (feed line?? ) already, it's beside the oil filter. Then there's two little basses, they're 12mm and I found it easy to disconnect it from the block. A 12" extension and a 3/8 drive seem to work well. If memory serves well...

    quick rebuild question

Yeah, I was lucky and only needed the head straightened. To answer your question. The timing cover everybody's refering to is the Aluminum piece that the oil pump drive shaft and the crank go through, and the timing belt tensioner is attached to. So you need to remember the amount...

    need some opinions

Okay, You're pulling the motor and what not. I know the motor only has 24K. As far as the MHG goes, get the block checked, and the head shaved. The machine shop will want you to pull the crank/pistons out So might as well get everything checked out for trueness, the machine shop that I...

    Probably jumping the gun...

One question still remains.... That line off of the fuel rail to the cold start injector. What's a good way to repair it? Right now I got a bolt stopping it up just to build up the fuel pressure. cliff notes: How to repair the cold start injector line???

    Probably jumping the gun...

Ma70... I almost had that problem, from the guy I got it from, I only got 1 pin for the cams. So I cut up an allen wrench that was a really tight fit and it works perfect. Update!!!! -The grounding wires for the ecu are on the Intake Manifold now and are gounded. -The main ground is...

    Probably jumping the gun...

Okay there's cliff notes at the end of this for people that browse through these. First off: 88 7mgte 5-speed, just got done rebuilding it ( lived by the supra bible and took it to a machine shop, MHG, ARP head studs and all those other goodies :) ). When I got the car 7weeks ago, head...
