pm me if you ONLY want to buy this turbo. I may be interested in a swap or sell of some kind. Right now the turbo is still brand new, but the turbine housing was getting ceramic coated yesterday. Seems like a fun...
it has to do with which crank you have, 6m or 7m. 6m's rev to 6.5k while the newer 7m cranks rev to 6k. Im pretty sure this info is accurate, and i believe the 7m was used on 89+ supras.
whats with all this 1000 hp in blasts or sustained???? with 1000 hp, you'll be doing WAY to fast for any sane person in less then 10 seconds. It takes a long stretch to stay in a 1000 hp car for any prolonged period. And at the stock redline, my car will only do 181. so with a higher...
the point of this thread is to do it with a 7m. it would be easier, but it would still cost close to this amount for a 2j also. a fully built motor is a fully built motor, but you're right, it would probably be a little cheaper in a 2j cause its been done many times before. 2j heads also...
yikes, it ended up being $140, ill take some pics when i get the stuff back. I couldn't do the intercooler pipe in black cause it doesn't fully cure until you run it through a heat cycle of 700 degrees. The cerma-chrome fully bakes in their oven at 550, so im getting it in that color. Im also...
i got my parts, but ive decided against coating the wastegate. its down far enough that air should be able to cool it without effecting under hood temps.
you can far more easily get a dsm into the 11's. they are extremely cheap to mod, and they respond well to mods. awd= great launches, and dsm link is a good engine management system for real cheap.
alright, update, im going to pull an all-nighter driving to my home in eastern washington to pick up the parts and then drive back with the parts. the place only bakes on fridays, and he's not baking next week. He said usual price for a long tube set of sbc headers is $125, and a dp is usually...
well thanks for all the responses, i was kinda hoping to be able to drive my car this weekend, but i guess i should do it right and do it once. the black ceramic coat that ill use for the exhaust pieces is good for 2000 degrees. ill use a silver ceramic coat for the intercooler pipe, but thats...
There is a place that is ceramic coating cheap, but due to complications, it would cost me not driving my car for another 3 or so weeks. I've already not had my car for over 2.5 months, and im ready to drive my car.... here are the parts i wanted to ceramic coat
greddy manifold
turbine...
alright UPDATE TIME: my car is getting really close to being done. the cams are in and it looked like there was too much space inbetween the buckets and the cams, but i check the specs and im right in the middle...... scary though. i was just about done, but i decided while everything is out...
it feels best to shift sooner, but try holding the gear longer. i remember reading a thread about this a while ago. one guy said to hold the gear as long as you can, because inbetween gears, you'll be coasting at a higher speed, and thats just one more reason to shift later. with your mods...
