    2JZ Main Bearing cap order

Hi all I have a question about the order of the main bearing caps. The block I have currently has bearing caps with stamps on them as per the pic. The front one has a 1 stamped on the cast part of the cap. Then the next two have 2 and 3 stamped onto a machined part of the cap. Then the...

    Solid pinion spacer question

Have managed to track down an inch/pound torque wrench. Hope to get it tomorrow and finish the diff off tomorrow as it's the last chance I'll have to do it before the dyno on sat!

    Solid pinion spacer question

I'm a little confused to the TSRM's wording lol RA-25's reference of 'check front bearing preload' assumes the diff is assembled, so you're checking both the pinion and carrier bearing preload combined? Which is why it's a higher 1-1.6nm? Then what is the 'measure the drive pinion preload'...

    Solid pinion spacer question

In the TSRM, page RA-28 states to measure drive pinion preload AT STARTING of 0.5-0.8NM Then it states to check total preload of 0.4-0.6NM What's the difference between drive pinion preload and total preload?

    Solid pinion spacer question

So I managed to have 3 goes at getting the correct bearing preload - first 2 were way too tight, and 3rd seems a fair bit too loose. I don't have an inch/lb or kg/cm torque wrench though - does anyone have any DIY solutions I could use?

    Solid pinion spacer question

Ok - mostly all done. Have installed all bearings - including pressing the pinion bearings on. Naturally the pre-load wasn't quite right first time so will have to take it off and re-shim it. I do worry that pressing the front pinion bearing off the pinion could damage it though? It wasn't...

    Solid pinion spacer question

I have access to a press. I tried pressing the old front pinion bearing off and after cranking a LOT of pressure on it, I was worried about breaking something, so I resorted to a sledgehammer. Perhaps the newly pressed on front bearing won't be such a tight fit on the pinion shaft and pressing...

    Solid pinion spacer question

But if I press the new bearing on to get the bearing preload set, if I have to adjust it I'd have to take the new bearing off without damaging it. How would I do that? To get the old one off I used a sledgehammer...

    Solid pinion spacer question

Ok so I've got all 4 bearings. My plan was this - let me know if it's not going to work.... Remove both pinion races from diff casing. Press in both new races into diff casing. Press new rear bearing onto pinion. Measure old crush spacer and stack shims onto solid pinion spacer until...

    Solid pinion spacer question

I'm not using an LSD - I have a torsen. I'll be doing both pinion bearings and both side bearings. Plus all 3 oil seals. I've checked the wear on the pinion to crown wheel and it looks spot on. Will see if it still is good with the new bearings or if I need to re-shim it etc.

    Solid pinion spacer question

Ah ok. How did you get the model numbers for the specific companies? Timken etc.... Thinking I should probably do the side bearings at the same time...

Interesting seeing the prices on amazon and ebay. Wonder what my local bearing supplier will charge....

    Solid pinion spacer question

Thank you - perfect. Is there any preference between KOYO or Timken or NSK?

    Solid pinion spacer question

Does anyone know what the 2 front bearings I need are numbered as? I can't see the numbers on the inner races that are still in the housing and I don't want to take them out just yet. I've had a search around but can't find the numbers anywhere on the interwebs...

    Solid pinion spacer question

Thanks for the replies. From what I can gather the bearings were over torqued as the front pinion nut was SUPER tight. I wont be using the old bearings. Will be using new ones. Was thinking of measuring the existing crush washer's length and using that as a base to start with the solid pinion...

    Solid pinion spacer question

Hey all I'm rebuilding my MK3 diff, well, replacing the bearings and seals, and I've just ordered a solid pinion spacer from Weir Performance. My question is - how do you work out what shims to use? Surely you don't have to assemble everything to check clearances, only to find that you...

    MK3 Torsen diff TBR?

Yeah - luckily I'm not running big hp or torque figures through it. No more than 400hp at the engine MAX - and the torque of a 2L hah

    MK3 Torsen diff TBR?

Hi Does anyone know what the Torque Bias Ratio for the MK3 Torsen is? Cheers Hunt
