Not necessarily natural for it to cause that.... no EGR causes detonation at part throttle which could potentially blow the head gasket which may be your problem. Have you checked your compression or see what's causing the car to overheat?
I have no EGR on my JDM 7M-GTE and I just bought one to put on it if that tells you anything....
Jdub has already pointed out some good reasons for you to keep it.
Why not check and make sure... swapping doesn't mean there is not some other problem.

I would check IAC for proper operation. Make sure you do not have a code 51. Make sure the throttle plate closes all the way too. I don't think the BOV would be causing a high idle.
Jdub: I posted that for OP.... you can get Mobil 1 synthetic anywhere and it's decent oil. I guess running Pennzoil would be better if that is Group IV though :)
I have also reused flywheel bolts with no ill effects. As poodle said, they should not have any problems as long as they were not over torqued. Just make sure you put locktite on them and torque them with a GOOD torque wrench.
I second that. Could also be a clogged fuel line also or something else keeping the pump from keeping the pressure up. Fuel pressure should build pretty quickly and you should also be able to hear the fuel flowing through the rail. How old is the AFPR?
I know cps and water temp sensor for sure. It's been a while but I have an 87 harness on a jdm 89+ 7M. You could also just change out the sensors if you didn't want to cut the harness to splice in connector. It was really fairly easy to do.
No HP loss, higher rev limit for 87 ecu.
