I have a w58 shifter on my r154 and works. same realy. Your second pic looks like a sc300 w58 i.e. shift rails are not on the right side and the shifter is extended rearward like sc\soarer\mkiv shifters. What are you trying to put a r154 in, a mkiv?
Yup, must be further west than me as I didn't get it till afterdark. Got rid of the messy spot under the car though huh?
The block looks good and the cylinders look good. I use 3m scourpads to clean block surfaces along with plenty of brake cleaner or carb cleaner.
Thats a clean bay compared to some that I have seen and owned. Someones been into the valve covers at least, there is a hex head bolt on the back of the exhaust side cover.
I was pokin' around my harness trying to find the reverse light wire from the auto Soarer harness to mate it to my chassis for lights and somehow electrictly holding open injectors 1 and 4. Turnes out the wires are the same color.
I torqued mine in a three step, 25-50-75lbs but the engine got a little noisy after 5k miles so I got out of the game for a while. I know my dads was torqued to 75lbs and has 100k miles on his rebuild, GE engine though.
