Okay.. whats been done the past 2 weeks....
HKS LET-T16 Full catback 3" exhaust (twin tip)
http://store.driftmotion.com/static/i-let-t16.php
(didnt get it from DM.. but its the same one)
HKS 3103-RT-003 Downpipe
Brembo Rotors (stock size.. not BBK) and steel braided brake lines
AISIN Clutch...
Its funny how people dont talk about those front clips and salt...
If it is from Japan.. its salt soaked. (almost always) There is no way to get around it as they come via ship and they sit sometimes for years. Remember the age of these cars.
If you like playing russian roulette with engines...
lol.. I was going to reply and then didnt because I didn't want to sound silly...
My first thought when I read this was.... "you did what???"
fyi to the OP... of all the engines I have had the pleasure of pushing around on the planet... the 7M is the fussiest when it comes to headgaskets. Do...
Just wondered if some of you with more experience tham myself could tell me what I should expect from my recent purge of funds from my wallet...
57 Trim CT26 Turbo (not here yet.. from DM), HKS 3" catback exhaust, no injectors/intercooler/afm/bov changes.
Got a HKS Boost controller being added...
Welcome to the club!
Wondering... why did you go with 1jz? I thought 2jz was less problems/costly. Still kinda boggles me why people dis the 7M so bad.. I have it and no complaints at all...
7M isnt a perfect one like the 2J, but still worthy of recognition imo. (not ragging on you for choice...
Kinda obvious really, you need the 89+ seals, although you could save yourself some money by using weatherstripping from a NAPA and just putting it around the area. I bought OEM for about 34.00 if I remember correctly. The pre 89's are very similar (may be same with slight difference for holes)...
I think stock mk3 is 225 50r16, which in itself is fairly beefy. Not sure why you would go with 15's unless you were looking for a lot if sidewall.. Don't know about fitment of the ones you describe although if I'm correct, stick offset is 33 mm on a 7.5" rim. Most go bigger, curious why you...
The picture of the woman driving, looked like rust above the quarter panel lip. May be a photo thing.. not trying to scare ya : )
You can tell in real life, I just noticed a ripple on the picture. It is probably nothing.. Im just oversensitive to that now.. hehe
I havent done it, but you can buy a front clip from an aristo or soarer off of ebay that would have the tranny/engine/ecu. Someone else will pipe in with better info than I can offer.
If your going to be getting your car pristine, be aware that the rear quarters are not cheap or easy to repair...
Possibly a stupid question (btw.. Welcome to the club!) but.. why doing a 1jz swap? Hopefully its something you researched and are ready to do rather than "hearing" it was a good idea. the 7M is a good engine, and most that I see want to do 2jz swaps but go single turbo. Nice car!
Thats exactly what happened to me (without the move). I had them organized, then I moved in a different car.. and lost track of what was where.. I have to go through everything 3-4 times everytime I need a screw just to be sure.
Best way is when you get stumped.. create a "what the hell fits...
I looked at your wheels closely.. you have pretty amazing fitment and no, your rubber does not looked stretched at all (well.. maybe a tiny bit). If I go 225/45/18 I think that will kick my odometer off by about 8-10 kph (already 5-6 off). I think I need to find the 90+ speedo gear for my 88...
My rears are 255's yours are 225's. It's that 1" difference with my offset. (actually slightly more than an inch)
Only rubbed once but brought to my attention that the wheels are a tiny bit too far out. I don't want to stretch the tire. I think I will just get a different wheel next year with a...
HSD Coilovers go on my car on Monday.. lowering the car (but not as much as some might recommend.. I like my bumper.. )
I will probably have to roll the fenders or do a diff setup wheel-wise...
Have to find someone who can roll without cracking the paint...
