Not much done lately.
I received some grommets in the mail today for the spare tire well. I'm not even sure if grommets came stock there, or if Toyota just put two rubber pads down over them. Regardless, the holes are 1 3/8", so I ordered two grommets for it.
To my understanding, these...
Too funny...
Now i realize that i'm going to go see a movie, in the hopes that a mkIII supra will be on the big screen for 1 second...
And the bigger problem is, if it's featured in multiple scenes, the value of mkIII's will probably jump.
Dunno, but my tank looked pretty much brand new on the inside.
You'll notice a bit of sediment around the inside base of the orange pump resevoir, but i cleaned that out prior to reinstallation. Aside from that, you can see the metal looks perfect.
This.
OR, you can attempt to grind down the base metal of the new seal, so that it sits maybe a half millimeter in deeper, thus sealing against an unworn section of the shaft. Not easy to do, without screwing up the seal's mating surface.
I would also get the AllTrac. Rare car that you never see on the road. Make sure its reliable, THEN buy a good project supra, that you can take your time on, and build the way you want it. I drove my supra as a dd for 15+ yrs, and only retired it when i had my MR2(which was given to me to watch...
Nah, i was kind of joking, but i will clean the last of the grime off of it next time i'm under there.
I like Eastwood products, though. I use them for powdercoat.
Original straps. They weren't rusty, so I just cleaned and painted them, and scrubbed down the rubber insulators on them.Still have to polish and wax the fuel tank...
just kidding.
But no, I really have to polish the fuel tank soon...
Today was reassembly day on the back end.
Got the underside cleaned and undercoated, then reinstalled the tank.
Undercoated, muffler shield back in.
New fuel filter installed.
Tank installed.
Wires set up. Still need to run the main power line to the hatch, and...
I had read alot of your build before, and always loved this car.
My first two cars were a '77, then a '78 Z, and I've always planned on getting another once I finish my current build.
G-nose conversion from Arizona Z-car, back in the day:
Looking great, man.
I think the CT's will be a good choice for this motor, with each one being driven by the exhaust from 4(larger) cylinders, rather than 6.
Seems like a good balance, as far as power band.
Well, I did the majority of welding yesterday, then today I ground them down, skim-coated them, and painted with bed liner.
There is a lip around the perimeter, but I don't mind much; as long as it's not rusty. Tomorrow, I have to re-coat the underside of the hatch area.
I bought a Greddy bar way back around 1996, when I was alot more gullible.
But to be honest, I might throw it back on for bling...or sell it on Ebay...dunno...
