For that price I say it's worth getting the V160 and have 6 speed :) but I would look for another motor because 32k with no real verification is not good.

Cam gears shouldnt be in the middle, they need to be on the timing marks on the back bracket on the head. Looking at it in front of you the passenger gear timing mark should be slightly to the left and the driver side gear should have the mark slightly to the right ;) Try that perhaps?

But the squiters are on back order so if you need new ones then you are up against a wall. I say forged internals you don't need them, but cast they are a very wise option to keep.

I was actually thinking MK4's but the TT which I know are 17's but with a 17x8 and 17x9 I think that would look slick

It should spool rather smoothly and quickly but that also depends on how powerful you motor is running ( a newly rebuilt motor) Def needs a cleaning and Id check for shaft play
