    Wheel Fitment & Question Thread

Have you ever seen a stock MKIV wheel on a MKIII? This is what I use to base all of my measurements and fitment characteristics. The MKIV rear is 17x9.5 +50, and sits pretty decently flush on the car. Picture: 285/40/17 on MKIV wheels...

Project Cherry Widebody, finished! (New pics on post #451 and #511)

How much wider are the rear fenders over stock? 2.5"? I've been considering doing something like this just so I can shove some 18x13s on the supra :)

    speakers?

I'm glad we have such a small audio section here that we've successfully convinced everyone who reads it to not have rears :) Anyways, suprarx7nut, I'm going to disagree with what you said about throwing money at a stereo. Personally, I love listening to music while I drive. I can't imagine...

    Speaker Interference Paint Pic Included

My guess is your head unit is garbage, and is sending a dirty signal to the amps.

Bored, wanna do something to the DD... need ideas

My old DD's mods went like this: 1. New interior because my girlfriend hated the disgusting old car. Price: maybe $50 from the junkyard. And yes, I modded a Supra interior into a Celica. 2. New springs and shocks because the car swayed and bounced like a boat. Price: $60 3. new head unit...

    2jz-ge-t + gt4088 = under 6 grand budget...

Actually, you have a point there. While the opening on the 4088 is a 4", the actual inlet to the turbo is still only 3", so that pipe isn't actually restricting anything. If the anti-surge is indeed not cut (mine isn't either. I remember that huge long thread you had about it), then you're not...

Bored, wanna do something to the DD... need ideas

Sell it, get an 85 GTS, and enjoy having a Celica that didn't suck ;) If you want to do something to the car, like was said, 3S-GTE will by far be the best performance modification you can do to it.

    My friends turbo idea

Yes 2JZ twins are the same size, but the system works in a similar way. I don't get what you're saying. Which configuration were you commenting on? The original post? He could open up only the small one at low rpm, then close it off, and open the larger one up at high rpm. How would that choke...

Do i have a GE or GTE

OK, that's fine. I know that SOME aftermarket pistons don't clear the squirters. Also, MOST aftermarket pistons don't really make use of the squirters. They don't have the oil galleys in the pistons for them. (You'll notice stock have a little hole where the oil squirts INTO the piston) All...

    Information on JZA70 TTR Springs?

I have them. IIRC they were progressive, yes. The ride height is lower than stock. Maybe 1/2"? I don't know, I'm bad at judging ride heights. Here's mine with MKIII 5-spokes: and with MKIV 5-spokes: As for stiffness, I also have TTR shocks. They create a very firm ride...

what's the meaning of this dashboard light

That light is the source of SO much amusement. I laughed at the thread title. I knew what it was before I even clicked the link.

    1g ply. laser wheels

Laser wheels? the ones that look like MKII wheels only 5-spoke? That would be awesome. I'm pretty sure the bolt pattern is the same, but I'm not sure about the offset. I also think they're only 15" max, so they won't clear the front brakes.

    what motor?

6 speed = V160 Came in MKIV Supra TTs Yes it will bolt to a 1JZ, and 2JZ, but that's it. The bellhousing is actually part of the transmission, so you cannot swap on a different one. It's a little difficult to fit into the MKIII chassis. The transmission tunnel needs some slight hammering...

    1j swap times

My friend pulled the 7M and put the 1JZ into his car in one day. But he does it for a living. I can do it in a weekend if everything goes to plan. I've gotten pulling the motor down to about 3 hours, if I'm keeping the harness connected to the body. Putting it in takes a little longer.

What the hell is with that pipe in the turbo? Nice turbo choice BTW. Works oh SO well with the 2JZ.

    Rebuilding a BB turbo.

Can you rebuild a journal bearing center cartridge with ball bearings? If not, how difficult is it to swap over say my GT40-88 to a ball bearing?
