when should start looking at puting a hg on my car

Don't do anything except proper maintenance till a problem arises. Then open the motor and check everything. Go from there. I'd leave well enough alone...especially if there are no issues now. gl.

Crank bolt/pulley came loose..need some help

The biggest question is whether the keyway is damaged. If it is fubared, people have fixed it by welding another keyway on the other side of the crank, and putting the balancer at 180 deg. The alternatives aren't pretty. Hopefully it just wasn't torqued enough before and it's all good.. gl.

How long have you owned yours?

Bought my roommates '82 10 years ago, fixed it all up, sold it for an '87na. Fixed that all up, sold it, bought an '88T, fixed that, then bought a black '90T. I'm keeping this one till I find that mint '92 teal, can't afford two, sigh. Needless to say I'm a bit addicted.

    Dealing with the Rust...

Hardly anyone does rust repair anymore. Most body shops just want to buy a new fender and grille and slap it on. They won't touch rust. At least not around here. The few old school guys that will do it are always swamped. Mine needs two rear quarter patches and some small repair on the inner...

    intercooler sprayer

^ X 2 Use the headlight sprayers. Just fill the holes left and you are good to go. They should work perfectly. I was thinking about doing that too, but is it really going to make that much difference performance-wise? I'd like to see some numbers before I go to all the hassle.

    Which head gasket to buy

Most of the mhg's from the bigger companies should be fine for that level of hp. The bead and stopper types both have a proven track record. A major concern is thickness. You must first determine the amount of material taken off the decks of both the block and head. These measurements will...

    Piston Ring Gap Dilemma....

If you are going to all the trouble of building your engine with quality parts and service, I'd strongly recommend Arp fasteners to replace stock rod bolts. If you ever decide to up the boost sometime down the road, it's nice to have the extra tensile strength they offer, imho. I'm happy I used...

    My Goals and Your Thoughts

Your headgasket thickness is determined by the deck height of the block and whatever has been removed from the cylinder head. If you've removed xxx amount from both, they should be measured. Then add up the numbers to get your actuals, and get the appropriate gasket to get back to stock cr. gl.

    weird temp. reading

Any coolant loss? I'd pressure test the system, and check for codes first. Any ideas on how old the thermostat is? I'd make sure your water pump is 100% as well. gl.

500rwhp with lexus afm and 550 rc ???

Without maxing out the 550's duty cycle, the area of 425 rwhp could be attained with those injectors (with the other supporting mods being addressed). This is mostly my setup as well, haven't dynoed, but from all my research, seems about right. I used a 1UZ tb with my intake. It worked quite...
