working on repainting and de-rustifying my car right now. The car is in pretty good shape except for a few odd pieces. I am having trouble finding another passenger side(1988 lhd car) plastic piece that goes behind the front wheel, the little quarter fender with mudflap dealy. The metal behind it rusted out so now it doesnt hold its shape against the body leaving a gap where dirt gets in.. looks terrible. it seems the metal backing is needed to hold the plastic into shape and to fasten it along the top, no metal backing left at all on mine.
has anyone found a way to fix this problem? anyone tried heating one up and trying to shape it back so it follows the coutour of the fender? the material isnt flexible so I cant just put some glue on it and expect it to work, but maybe with some heat it can be fixed up? its getting painted anyways so I dont care if it burns the paint off it. all the cars i have found in the scrap yard are exactly the same! seen some hack attempts at fixing it, like just putting a couple self tapping screws through it= looks even worse! seems to be as common as the worn out console lid and e-brake boots! is there a source to get a new one just one side only? I need this piece fixed before I paint.
thanks for the help
