to be honest if it blew....it was because the block wasnt done properly or a section was missed etc... cometic will seal against the block fine if its prepped 100% and is straightedged and not warped at all....also pitting in the block is a big concern as well...so that could have been the...

for the record....if using a hks mhg then i agree with all above statements...because the RA is so small. however if you use a cometic gasket , you can simply resurface the head, and straightedge the block to make sure its not warped, if its not then you can clean it up VERY well with razors...

at 170k miles.... probably 10psi lol i wouldnt run more then 14psi on a stock ct anyways. the question is EXTREMELY broad.

check all your ic pipe connections... and check the hoses themselves for holes...especially the one off the bottom of the turbo

check your timing belt tensioner... make sure its within spec and that its actually tightened down.... normally if its not working properly the belt will slide forward...

why not just bite the bullet instead of throwing parts at it....and just do a compression test FIRST. its not hard to do and will give you a lot of information.

word however having said that it does sound to me like a nice boost leak. check codes and report back for further instruction ;)

looks like you have a fields harness.... in which case you pretty much hae to stuff it up in there to put the black backing piece back in and then the glove box..
