Stereo in place of ashtray and lighter?

Have any of you put a stereo in place of the ashtray and lighter? My stock stereo location is now the place where all of my gauges are custom mounted so I can't put a deck there. The only other location I was thinking was the ashtray and lighter. I want to remove that panel and cut out...

    Shocks Blown?

Sounds like it would be the springs. When I push down on it there is no bouncing. I know the pro-kits are not too hard but I'm surprised they offer that much give in the front.

    Shocks Blown?

I have an 89 lowered on Eibach Prokits with Tokiko blue shocks. Many times going over bumps the front of my car dips low and my 3 hole Bomex lip smacks the pavement. I recently stood at the front of the car and pushed down on the front and the suspension seems to travel up and down a little...

    HKS Dragger Exhaust ?'s

The exhaust was already on the car when I bought it. I love the sound and performance so if there is no good replacement muffler, I'll just leave it as is.

    HKS Dragger Exhaust ?'s

I have a HKS Dragger on my 89 turbo and love the sound and performance it offers. The only thing I don't like is the big single tip muffler. I would like to have a nice dual tip muffler but don't want to make the car louder. Has anyone ever tried this or have any recommendations? I know...

How do I install square gauge into flat panel?

That would probably work really well. I gotta try this tonight as I hate having that display sitting on top of my steering column. Thanks

    Aftermarket Gauges Dim, why?

I took the wire powering the cigarette lighter and used that as my power source for the gauges and it worked perfectly. Now the gauges are nice and bright. Thanks!

How do I install square gauge into flat panel?

My 89 has a flat panel covering where the original double din stereo used to be. In that panel are my various round gauges. What I want to do is cut a rectangular hole in the panel and have just the display of my FJO Air/fuel controller showing through. My question is; if I want the...

    Next Mod?

Thanks for all the answers guys. I've definitely been looking at a 57 trim turbo but I want to install the MHG and ARP studs first. I'm not really sure of what my horsepower goals are, I just want the car to be a bit quicker....I've been trying to book a baseline dyno run in my city for weeks...

    Next Mod?

Whoops, forgot to add the air filter. I have a HKS mega filter. From what I hear it's one of the worst filters out there so I may swicth it to a K&N or Apex. I'm looking to spend up to a max. of around $1000 so a ct26 upgrade would be in my price range. Thanks for the reply!

    Next Mod?

Hi, I have an 89 hardtop turbo with the mods listed below. Mechanically the car is in perfect shape and I'm about to install a new RPS clutch, fidanza flywheel, and a metal head gasket. The car runs great but I'd like to still get some more power out of it.....basically I need a project...

    Mk3 Dope status!

Here is my 89 hardtop.....not as nice as some of the others but not bad. This thread is awesome, it's nice to see some really nice MKIII's as they seem to be getting harder to find.

    Aftermarket Gauges Dim, why?

That is what I want. I want them to stay at their brightest all of the time. Would the light near the cigarette lighter be sufficient as a 12V source. Sorry, I'm clueless when it comes to wiring of any kind. Thanks for the help guys.

    Aftermarket Gauges Dim, why?

I bought a 89 supra that has gauges installed for boost, EGR and Fuel Pressure. If I have them lit fully, then my stock gauges (eg. speedometer, rpm) go dim. If I put full lighting to the stock gauges, then the aftermarket gauges go dim. I'm using the dial that controls the dash lighting to...

New Owner 1989 Hardtop Turbo (Pics and ?'s)

They're great. The car is solid but the ride is not very bumpy or bouncy. There is a slight amount of body roll during hard cornering and the nose dips a little under hard braking but nothing that bothers me much. It's a nice balance of streetability for the city and performance.

New Owner 1989 Hardtop Turbo (Pics and ?'s)

$8500 Canadian. Engine is beautiful and is spotless, no winters and only 2 owners. Cost me a little more than most Supras up here but came with perfect condition Volks with new Michelin Pilot tires, all the mods listed above and was really well taken of. It worked out well for me because I...

New Owner 1989 Hardtop Turbo (Pics and ?'s)

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm loving this thing so far. I was worried that giving up my mr2 turbo would be a mistake but since I bought this I haven't even thought of the mr2. It's nice to have speed, comfort, a decent trunk, fold down rear seats, rear seats, and no damn t-tops leaking...
