so as some of you know.. i rebuilt a cressy engine recently...
so im hearing this noise, thats between a knock and a tick...
its comming from the exhaust side valve cover toward the cam gear
doesnt really sound like valvetrain...
the only thing i can think of thats in that area is the...

i didnt realize that my new engine i rebuilt was a cressy engine... so the dip tube is in the front of the engine... where as the dip tube on the supra is in the middle... and since the engine doesnt sit level...(higher in the front) i couldnt get a...
that sucks man... i feel your pain as far as, thinking everything was done right. and thinking your gonna have a great running engine... to find out maybe not...
i did a fresh rebuild on my engine... but inadvertantly left a rag in the hole where the mechanical fuel pump used to go when i was...
so vibration i was feeling wasnt the flywheel...
it turns out that the cressida 7mge crank pulley is much heavier and well, different than the supra 7mge..
and when i was assembling the new engine in the car... i had grabbed the wrong crank pulley and that was the problem..
anyone know...

couple things
check all your engine grounds... multiple locations, i cant specify
when the car is running... with a pair of jumper cables...
connect the positive end of the jumpers to the pos on the batt... connect the other pos end of the jumpers to the pos terminal of the alt...
i wonder how much gain that thing will produce...
i mean, all i can think about is driving my parents M roadster with the straight 6 and itb setup... and the amount of pull that thing has... granted the supra is much heavier.. it has to make a huge difference.. right>?
does it putter? pop?
100% sure the distributor isnt 90 degrees off?
3 things needed to make an engine run
spark, fuel, and compression.
and just because you have spark doesnt mean its firing at the right time
also, just because you have fuel pressure... that doesnt mean your...
understand, what your doing before you do anything.... its not just nuts an bolts... there's a theory involved...... that being said...
the mark on the crank pulley.. its a notch.. and theres also a mark on the lower timing cover... you need to match up the the mark on the crank pulley with...
