an ebay short throw shifter
the stock pivot cup from a 240 trans
4 long screws
1 generic polyurethane bushing (trim down to fit)
and a shift knob of your choice
welll i kinda did tube frame bumper supports so there is nowhere for the cover to actually bolt to now, so im looking for a way to make the bumper not sag by the turn signals now
yea if you look at the pics the shifter is actually a rather tall 2 piece design much like our stock shifters, i did the sogi mod to mine rendering it quite the stump
no that thing is too small
what i ended up using was a polyurethane suspension bushing for an accord and shaved it down to 20mm so it fit in the selector hole
actually yea i have this setup running, i ended up using zipties to secure the fusebox to the dash support bar and tie up all the wires. im thinking about shortening up all those wires though its a little tight under there
i agree the smell would be really bad, but its a non issue no leaks , a little form in place gasket under the shift collar takes care of that, im also using all the stock rubber boots as well so no leaks no extra sound its really quite civil
ok i got it sorted, i used a polyurethane bushing for the bottom of the shifter just shaved it down to 20mm so it would fit. stacked the shifter collar up over the original and used the stock top plate to cap it off 40mm bolts were used to compensate for the extra height. i just drove it around...
ok i got it in and it does work , but the issue im having is finding an appropreate size nylon bushing for the ball at the end of the shifter. the inner diameter is 11mm and the outer diameter has to be 20mm.
ill post up pics in just a sec
right but im thinking of using a solid top plate to keep it in line as opposed to the snap ring system
basically mirroring the w58 setup but using the 240s actual shifter
hey everyone i've been playing around with the idea of using a 240sx short throw shifter in the w58 they are roughly the same size as the c's and a fraction of the cost
I have one laying around and ill be attempting this today and we will see if it actually works
has anyone tried this before?
ok so i added 5mm of preload to all four corners and it basically just raised my car up a bit which seems to be keeping me from rubbing. the ride feels much smoother as well.
however i dont like the ride hight right now i feel like im too high.
getting low and being functional on 18's is not easy
