hey everyone i've been playing around with the idea of using a 240sx short throw shifter in the w58 they are roughly the same size as the c's and a fraction of the cost
I have one laying around and ill be attempting this today and we will see if it actually works
has anyone tried this before?

240 use a snap ring as retainer w58's do not

right but im thinking of using a solid top plate to keep it in line as opposed to the snap ring system
basically mirroring the w58 setup but using the 240s actual shifter

good luck, let us now how it turns out i dont think anyone has tried something like this. If it works it would provide a cheap alternative.

ok i got it in and it does work , but the issue im having is finding an appropreate size nylon bushing for the ball at the end of the shifter. the inner diameter is 11mm and the outer diameter has to be 20mm.
ill post up pics in just a sec

what is the current diameter on the 240 bushing now? is it larger than 20? maybe it can be shaved down.
i wish that were the case its actually much smaller , the 240 bushing will fit snug inside our shifter bushing

ok i got it sorted, i used a polyurethane bushing for the bottom of the shifter just shaved it down to 20mm so it would fit. stacked the shifter collar up over the original and used the stock top plate to cap it off 40mm bolts were used to compensate for the extra height. i just drove it around my neighborhood and it feels awesome and shifts smoothly
