hey J, i had a similar problem but my car would idle really low, like under 500. come to find out that heater hose(on back of head) was leaking. felt like i was down a cyl. i totally capped off that line from the heater core. toyota oem coolant caps. now runs perfect>don't know how it could've...
yeah, i had asked a similar Q about a month ago as i was trying to lower the CR of my NA pistons(9.2:1) Doc J helped me figure out > Greddy 3mm gives @ an 8.3:1 and the HKS 2mm gives @ 8.7:1
the factory HG thickness is 1mm. HTH
IJ i see what you're talking about, but you gotta remember many of the NA's that are left are prob. still running on oem ignition components and after almost 20yrs are taking a dump if not already slowed down. to every one: dont forget to change the cap and rotor too. all that spark and nowhere...
didnt bother to read all the posts but turbo-A's only came in black, are maf less and are only 5-speed mans. the plates read BLX..... something or other.
does anybody have the pinout locations for the pre 89 na ecu. what im gonna to do is install the maft-pro on my NA-T project, BUT of course, I dont have the pinouts. all i can find published is for the GTE. PLEASE HELP, as i know someone else is doin this same project. thanks.
simple solution: take a 3 foot pipe and put it on the end of your socket and drive. pull that son of a B from the left to right side of car until its tight. toyota rates that bolt at @ 191 ft-lbs.
supraderk: thats exactly my train of thought. back in the 80's Cartech and HKS used this method to boost their NA-T's. nowadays, if we use a good enough IC, have enough fuel, and use the updated MAFT-T, we'll be cool going NA-T safely.
wow, thanks that sure does give me less to worry about. some numbnuts told me to just subtract the two HG thicknesses then subtract that from my orig. comp. At least now i got a better ballpark, thanks!
Anyway you could post that formula, im sure everyone could use it.
Is there an easy way to figure out what my new comp ratio would be? got a math formula?
Im gonna keep my NA 9.2:1, but im between the GREDDY 3mm HG or the HKS 2mm Stopper HG. Tuning wise i gotta figure out the new comp. thanks in advance guys.
yeah any straight engine needs to be almost perfectly balanced, esp the 7m. you gotta remember the 7m was built on like 20+ year old technology. you either do a stock rebuild or weight balance everything. what could happen if unbalanced is the bearings break loose from stress and your crank will...
go to DRIVEWIRE.COM and have everything shipped for@ 20.00.
heres your write-up:
tools needed:
phillips screwdriver(that's it)

2. unplug spark plug wires from distrib.
3. unscrew cap(3 screws)
4. pull off rotor WITHOUT(without) turning rotor.
5. put new rotor on
note...

Hold on, here's some of my thinking. The Tbody is 60mm going to the mani side, and the turboA is 65mm. So, more air= more power. RABIDCHIMP.COM offers a 62mm Tbody for the GTE (175.00), i dont see why they cant do an NA. Just ask them. note: you gotta look in the mk2 section. im gonna see if can...
AWW! thats what that light is. mines been on like 6 months after my HG fix. even though i got no temp rise or leaks how else would you know if your WP is going bad? clicking, knocking, fluctuating idle?
YES IT WILL FIT! on my NA i got stock header down to a 3" cat ( JSCSPEED.COM) and then to a 3.2" RSR exhaust. yes, they are both too big for my na but im going turbo later. the flanges on all 3 surprisingly match perfect. i measured like 8 times as i also bought a test pipe later from HPF; it...
DOC, i just wanted to say thank you! with that little bit of info, you just saved me like 2 grand with what i was trying to do. please keep us posted on the release date. thanks
See now, that's the type of answer im lookin for. thanks man. someone who's done it not someone who does'nt dig turbos, that's not what i asked. ICE: thanks, i'll look into it.
