Can I use the 24-1 modified stock VR sensor with the MS3x board to do Sequential Ignition?? I would like the ability to use 2-step/anti-lag/flat-shift if at all possible down the road.

If so, how would I go wiring up the boards to run in VR mode?

been reading here:
http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms3/ignition.html#tachint

for wiring up the ignition part. It is driving me nuts trying to finish it up though.

Or do I need to worry about wiring up the MS3 board for tach/cam input if I am going to use an MS3x board?

This page shows all the trigger wheel arrangements and their possibilitys.

Are you asking how to assemble the board for vr sensors? thats here http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms3/build_manual.html

Gennro A question I am sure you could answer. I did a quick search but could not find a definite answer.

What is the logging speed of Megasquirt . How many frames per second? How many fields (rpm, map etc) at the same time.

With SD logging the fastest "sample interval" supported is 3ms. but you can also log with bluetooth and directly connected to a computer, but I cant find the speed of those. On my logs there are 16 fields loged. megalogviewer is the program used to view the logs, the basic version is free if you want to download, and mess around with it. http://tunerstudio.com/index.php/megalogviewer

SD logging, http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms3/sdlogging.html

Thanks for those links. I installed the megalogviewer but there was no default logs to look at. If your Megasquirt logs have a time stamp you can check to see how many frames per second you are getting.

The early Delco ECU could capture 11 -12 fps through a serial port. The worst I have heard of was the early EMS 's only logging 1 fps. Probably one of the best for logging rates is the Motec, 200+ fps which can be adjusted depending on what needs to be logged.

Strange why Megasquirt don't mention their fps (frames per second) logging rate.

Just about ready to install this. Harness just needs the shrink tube shrunk and installed on Saturday. I need to figure out what to do for crank/cam trigger angles and what settings to put in for the bosch wideband knock sensors.

My AEM comes back from repair tomorrow, so once the Pro is installed and working, Ill hardwire the patch harness in.

Going through the MS3pro manual, I see I need to set up the ignition. Can anyone lead me to some input numbers? Looks like I need to know the tooth angle btdc on the crank, and the input is rising edge, but with my LQ9 coils I need falling edge trigger for the coils.

Standard 2jz 12 tooth crank and Ill be using the front G1 cam sensor.

Going to try and set this up on Saturday and hopefully get it started.

The stock 7M ECU will do 200 samples per second of any 16 bit value in RAM. Not bad for 1986!

That is outstanding. When you say stock, does that involve extra circuitry that must be added. I thought these came out standard with OBD1

What has to be done to achieve this 200 fps?

I am nearing compleation on an install (MS3+3x) and i am curious about the tachometer gauge: is their any need to open the cluster and solder in a new resistor? or can i just connect it and be done with it?

hey guys i am also doing a ms3x install on my mk3 but i pulled out my complete engine harness to make the engine bay look a little cleaner! this post shows you how to make all the connections to get your gauge to work as far as temp gauge tach etc. its pretty straight forward. and for those that needs a schematic on how to wire up 1zz coil and CAS to run full sequential... ill post if you want! anyways i'm working closely with thi guy Terrence who post this to get our cars running flawlessly. if you have any questions about the link just feel free to ask.

I wouldn't mind seeing it posted. I am not using the 1zz coils , but would be helpful for people that are. I would love to see how to set up the CPS though. I am using the Distributor(looks exactly like the CPS posted on the MSextra page)

nippondensocas.jpg

It uses two outputs. One Cam Output and one Crank output. The MS3x only has one cam input

What is everyone doing for the knock sensor??

I also ran into a problem with my harness.

following this picture from MSextra:

My colors aren't matching(That's a brown wire BTW)

you will need to use the shielded wire to hook up the CAS. you might need more shielded wire for your setup! so you will be using both the main and the X-cards to run the cas ok. now look and the main board diagram its pretty straight forward! the shielded wire that is in the ms3 kit has a black, white, and bare wire which is ground for shielding layer. the black wire goes to pin1 on the main board, then the bare wire goes to pin2, and the white wire which is signal will go to pin24. that is how your connector should be solder for the wire harness. now the CAS is simple main board pin24 goes to (NE), then the black goes to (G-) the the other shielded will be used from the pin32 on the X-board to (G1) and G2 is not used.

NOTE: you do not need a ground wire for the wire coming from the signal wire on the X-board....all you need is to run the wire from Pin32 to G1 done.
