better that stock downpipe exhaust gaskets?

@Poodles - not handy, it's on the car now & I haven't pulled it out yet. When I put it back together everything was perfectly clean (IE: turbo elbow was fresh from ceramic coating, DP flange was wire brushed clean). Is the one you're thinking of have a crush ring? 'Cause this one didn't...

better that stock downpipe exhaust gaskets?

Then the last one I got from Elmhurst was incorrect... Solves that problem.

    Exhaust manifold question

And if you're going to have either manifold machined, check the runners and turbo mounting flange (near the divider) for cracks. I went through 4-5 manifolds just trying to find one that wasn't cracked.

better that stock downpipe exhaust gaskets?

Those are cool looking gaskets, but unless I missed it, I only saw one for the exhaust housing/ elbow for a CT26. Im looking for the 3bolt DP gasket. Thanks though

better that stock downpipe exhaust gaskets?

I'm running a TD06 mated up to a regular RT downpipe. Problem is the OE paper gaskets suck balls and if I let the car sit for any extended period of time (not my primary) the damn thing rots/blows out. And changing them sucks. Is there a better solution out there (copper, alum, etc)? I only ask...

    Autocross?

I would say get rid of all the rubber bushings (anyone that hasn't already on cars this old is just asking for trouble - it's soooo much better when they're swapped), some decent tires (under 220 treadwear IMO), a shock w/ good compression dampening and some bigger sways than stock (adjustable...

    swaybars:st or tanabe?

I know it was pointed out that the Tanabe's are cromo. The ST's are a solid (assuming treated MS..?) bar. One thing to keep in mind is the transient response of each (as well as fatigue life). Quick story. ~10years ago, most US kart frames were built from Cromo. They were light and had a...

    7M-GTE Engine Response

Rod ratio has huge implications on the dwell of piston at TDC as well as a method of changing piston speed based on RPM (read as shifting the powerband). look at the Ford 2.3 4cyls (that are used in SCCA) there are a number of different piston/rod kits that fool with exactly that (rod ratio) to...

I might sell my soul for Prosport Peak and Hold gauges

I have to disagree. The tint doesn't bother me at all. Then again, I have the green/white, which are more than bright enough during the day (white) without the hoods and even with the targa off, and almost too bright at night (green). I can't say anything about the blue lighted gauges, because...

looking for OE valve spring seats

I know this should be in the WTB section, but I was hoping to get a faster response here... I need a pair of OE valve spring seats (fit between the head and the spring). I had the Ferrea spring set in my head and am changing to the BC spring set. The BC springs require the OE spring seat and...

The same before and after rebuild. Its just 'tighter' now, but it goes right in every time.

    7M-GTE Engine Response

IMO you would be hardpressed to do anything like that on a piston engine (vs a rotary), as design would be the overall handicap (stroke and rotating weight). I have a 7m with all the fun off the shelf light weight components (JE's, crower rods, ati dampner, alum flywheel, ferrea valves, springs...

    Upgraded CT-26 worth it?

for a shameless plug - there is a TD06 package for sale that will put down more power, great driveability, bolt on package while designed for greater output. I have one and love it - better than a CT in every way (IMO). And MDC does great work too!

Can anything else cause serious BHG symptoms besides a BHG?

When I had my motor out, I took the heater pipe to a rad shop and had them plug it. One less thing to worry about. Before that, I would replace that plug (behind the #6 exhaust runner) and the 90deg elbow that is right above it every spring. It was worth the piece of mind. I also had a water...

Turbo vs N/A Cams Dyno Compare

Tampering with smog equipment is an EPA (federal) issue. A non-compliant engine (1j) would fall into that category. But it is enforced by the state (police, smog shop, etc). But if they don't look (or care to look) then theoretically, you don't have much to worry about. Besides, how many...

    HELP!----stage 2 or stage 3 clutch?----

FYI - clutches are rated by flywheel torque, not HP. Make your decisions based on your motor combo's torque output, not just 'I want XXX hp.' For instance, a TD06 and a gt4082 will both make 400hp on pump gas on a decent engine. The torque output and delivery? way, way different... (compare...

    HELP!----stage 2 or stage 3 clutch?----

stage 2 or 3 clutch by who? they're not all the same... I have a South Bend full face feramic (can handle 520lbs on paper). Smoother than an act stage 2 I've driven. Slippable like stock - not really. rough chatter box? not even close.
