When clutch depressed, Engine Dampner Rubs timing cover.

Gentlemen, after replacing my clutch from the following symptoms:
http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62241,
I still had the same problem.

If you didn't look at the above link, when I pushed the clutch pedal down my car would make a metal grinding sound. I was leaning to throughout bearing, so I replaced the throwout bearing, pilot bearing, hubs(all hubs parts,) clutch, and pressure plate.

I start it up and the same sound is being made.

I take a closer look and when the clutch pedal is pressed down the Engine Dampner looks like it is pulled toward the timing cover. It's actually rubbing. The question is why and how do I amend said condition?

Shitty. That's a really big job. There are these cute little bearings in the center of your crankshaft that prevent the entire crank from moving back and forth.

When they die, it's called crankwalk. It's rather rare on the 7M, but I've seen it happen before.

Fixing this involves pulling the engine, pulling the bottom end apart, having a machinist check the the block hasn't been damaged, having the rods and pistons rechecked at the same time, replacing anything that's been damaged, then installing new bearings and putting it back together.

Like I said, shitty.

Good luck on the denial. I *really* hope it's something else!

If the harmonic balancer were broken, the problem wouldn't be linked to the clutch on the other end of the crank.

Yes, thrust bearings is what I am talking about.

That sounds a lot like crank walk to me. Do yourself a favor and do not run the engine at all. Because the thrust bearing have been torn up there will be bearing material on your oil, you don't want it to eat away at everything else in there. Ive had the something happen to me but it was due to bad machining. Either way...I hate to say it but its definably crankwalk. :(

Right when I thought things were going well.

RANT
I'm too fatigued to carry on with this car as my daily.
Between: College(research,) full-time job, friends and family, this car will kill you.

I'm worried it's going to collect dust in the garage.
I need a car.

ON TOPIC

What ''other damage'' should I look for?

I reckon it is a good time to do the things I didn't do when I had d it rebuilt: replace oil squirters, shim oil pump, and driftmotion oil line, and lower oil pickup. Sigh.

Time to start a build thread on my already built motor.

Do yourself a favor and buy a cheap beater. Fix the Supra when you can afford it and have time. Or else you'll have a miserable time in poverty & frustration land. If you are constantly under the gun to fix your dd it's not fun. Ask me how I know.

Buy an 86-89 Accord.

Dirt cheap, parts are dirt cheap, insurance is dirt cheap, and I get 34mpg in my 2bbl weber equipped ugly beast.

If I were you I would pull the harmonic balancer off and check that the timing cover and balancer are installed correctly, before giving up and spending a ton on a bottom end rebuild.
Crankwalk is really rare, although it sounds like you got it.
Good luck

x2 at the toronto meet 2 years ago, my frienda 1jz dropped both thrust washers. they were all twisted up. the main caps were all eaten up where the thrust washer were.

Friday I'm going to remove the crank pulley to verify that it is seated and torqued properly.

The motor idles well and goes through the rev band freely with no vibration, the car is not in use anymore.

Reguardless of the outcome on Saturday, I'll be purchasing a 350Z or Solstice.

The Supra will remain purely a hobby/weekend car.

Solstice GXP FTW

:aigo:Lots of Money though relatively speaking. I'm in the new/used (used) market 2005 up, under 15000 mile market. The GXP is still above 25000. I'll have to compromise somewhere to get that one and I'm not ready to loose the Supra.
