What's the best/easiest BOV to mount in stock location (recirc)

Hey everyone,

Well the MKIV BOV I've had in the stock location for some time has run its course, and I'm getting bad compressor surge, so time to upgrade. Thing is, I don't wanna have to weld a mount on the hard pipes for the new BOV, as its ceramic coated, so I would have to get it recoated, and I don't really want to mess with that. I'd like to find a replacement BOV that I can get mounted in the stock location, utilizing a recirc fitting as well. I'm not sure the HKS SSQV will fit there with the recirc fitting and the hose-to-mounting-plate fitting installed, but anyone have a any pics of doing this? I'm open to whatever BOV as long as it works and fits it the stock location. Ideas, pics?

There was a company making billet aluminum bypass valves a while back - someone here found and linked to them. If you do some digging, you'll find them, I bet. This is by far the best option if you intend to recirc anyhow.

It think that was IJ. Ask him about a prefered BOV (BPV) and he will show you.

I would say that or you could go the route of the Bosch 110. That is if you dont got a bigger turbo (cant see pic). You can find info in the parts review section if you dont overlook it.

If you get the Greddy RS, I have the Greddy Recirculaition peice for it I'd be willing to part with for $10 shipped. Basically you just screw off the noisemaker part and screw this on instead and it is an adapter so that you can fit a hose and recirculate instead of venting to the atmosphere via the noisemaker.

Thanks guys,

That is the HKS sport turbo (the old school one) and I run 1.1-1.2bar boost. That MKIV one actaully worked really well, but its toast now.

I like the idea of the billet alum BPV that fits in stock location.

I will PM IJ about his potential route, I found that Forge model on the web, looks very nice, but of course doens't have that "cool" look, but considering I had the MKIV in there, I actaully think this will work rather well. Does IJ have this same look to it? And does anyone know which particuliar model I would use for 1.1 bar? These models are for a 1.8L Audi engine the sites say, which doens't lead me to believe its good to 15-ish PSI?

And thanks for the comments on the engine bay, I'm taken some time with the ol' girl.

Is that car the "CRUZMSL"?

WAS the CRUZMSL:icon_bigg , yes it is! I bought it from Rob Carlile and flew out to AL to drive it back to TX. And have already sunk way too much into it restoring to former glory and then some!

Met Rob at a Dayton meet MANY years ago. Gorgeous car then. Glad to see it's still in good hands!
