Nope.

It simply relieves tension on the seatbelt while the door is closed for comfort, then when you open the door it retracts the belt harder so you don't slam the door on it.

I was just wondering about that earlier today, and thought of making a thread... Interesting...

from the looks of your sig, you're not going to have seat belt pressure for a little while.

It works better when the seat belt retracting springs aren't all worn out, like they are on virtually every Supra on the planet.

Somebody should make new ones...

I am going to have to jump on this bandwagon.

I am so tired of feeding my seatbelt (as well as passangers) back in to the retractors.

It's gotten so bad that when someone rides in my car, they know to feed the seatbelt back into the retractor or face my look of disgust while I do it.

I took the retractor off one time, and looked at it :aigo: with the intention of somehow fixing it... no f'ing way!

It has that ummistakeable look of something that once apart, would never go back together.

Anyone?

you mean those big coils of strip steel? those are the devil.

I see I'm not the only one who ever unsuccessfully did experimental surgery on a retractor.

Just a thought but...I wonder if an upholstery shop or someone like that could take a new set of gray belts (retractors and all, I guess) and die them.

I admit it sounds a bit desperate...but that's the best I got.

I would order new seatbelts in an instant if I could get blue ones. Grey is all that's available from Toyota. :(
