What does your R154 used fluid look like, shavings?

I dumped my tranny fluid after 3000 miles and making decent power. And it looked like silver metallic paint

The shavings are not magnetic. I wanted to see what your fluid looks like, I'm trying to see if a shop can analyze a sample.

Not normal. You either have some extreme gear wear, a bad bearing, or thrust washer problem. This assumes you're running the proper fluid.

Redline MT90 works good, some people with very high power or a worn out box use Redline Shockproof, but the box will need to warm up to shift well.

I run a 50/50 mix of Mobil 1 75W-90 and Amsoil Severe Gear 190wt in my W58 (yeah not an R154 but I run 400+hp through it, it's weaker, and I still don't see any metal flake like you have).

Some ultra fine bronze/brass metallic stuff in the fluid is normal, that's from syncronizer wear.

Thank you Sside :(

And yes I am running mt90, same as PO. it's all silver flakes no copper or bronze what so ever.

It shifts like butter, stays in gear and everything. I don't thrash the tranny and only get on it during the weekends, I only DD it 10 miles a day. I'm going to flush it out to prevent the flakes from getting in a bearing the best I can. Looks like a MC tranny will be soon.

Only had some flakes in my trans when my thrust washer went out, destroyed the bearing in front of it, and my first to second gear shift fork was pretty beat.

But I have never seen a trans that I have drained look like that. I would imagine you will need a new one or a rebuild pretty quickly.

exactly what happened to mine when the thrust washer failed.
but the shaving seized the hubs bearing onto the input shaft on top of that

Only metals I can think of in there are steel, bronze, and aluminum. Looks like it might be aluminum, which is shift forks...

How can this happen? Something misaligned?
