Hmm... can't hurt, that's for sure. Although on the flip side, I'm not entirely convinced that damage is caused by low oil pressure instead of low oil pressure being the sign that the damage is already done, if you get my drift.

I come from a land down under
Chicken/Egg thing?

If you're listening to what your car is telling you you can often spot an issue before it's terminal!

I'd noticed my Oil pressure had dropped a touch and suspected hammered bearings from the 30 psi adventures so was happy to tear it down for inspection.

The bearings weren't hammered just fatigued but if I'd continued to pound on it it would have punched a rod out through the block.

But our oil pressure seems to go below 7lbs according to the TSRM at idle. (4.3lbs or more)

Good idea, wrong application.

Works for the industrial engines which have an emergency low oil shut off, but for street cars / race cars not the best idea.

Just immagine doing a huge pull on a 600hp car and all of a sudden it shuts off and won't turn back on..... turbo's toast, you can't steer, the water pump isn't running yada yada yada.

I think it should be wired up to a couple electrodes in the seat along with a capacitor so that it will shock the crap out of ya if you let your oil pressure get low! LOL!

The light or buzzer idea sounds better then having the engine shut off. What about just adding an oil accumulator in the system so when the pressure drops low it wont let the engine starve for oil. I forget who has one of these installed on here.
