the turbo Z31's and FC turbos are both very close

I have a friend with a NA Z31 and another friend with an NA FC

they had fun racing each other and told me to get an NA supra.

the power to weight ratios are all very similar in both NA and turbo sets

When I got a turbo supra they had no chance.

If I recall correctly the NA supra was the top car in its class …. However the rx7 was quicker 0-60

1)Supra
2)Rx7
3)Starion
4)Nissan 300z

It sounds to me that what you are mostly asking about is if you should get the camaro or the supra. It also sounds like power is your foremost concern. If not then I would go with the supra because in my opinion is a rarer car, likely to be cheaper, and nicer looking imo.

If it IS power you want to make, the supra is practically ready to make power once u have the money, but will need a rebuild. As for the camaro, it's a bigger engine to begin with and will also need a rebuild if u want to make big power, for reliability.

Anyways, what I'm getting at, is that it's a close comparison objectively, but the bottom line is I suggest the supra. Of course, this is objective, you ARE on supramania.com after all. The weights are also similar.

There is nothing to be confused about why buy a v6 camero just to swap it? Just spend 1500 more and get the 5.7....

lol research people who spend that kind of money …. Only spent it because they experimented and failed and had to do things over and over again.

$8000 will get you a 11' sec mkiii

$1200 big t4
$500 IC and Pipes
$800 3.5 exhaust
$3500 built motor (forged everything)
$500-1000 good clutch
$1000 miscellaneous (bigger wheel etc)

you could go faster for 8 grand, especially with an auto and a setup that works. People have gone 11's on upgraded CT's.

that list will make over 500 horsepower to the tire if built right, if setup right im sure high 10's or low low low 11's at the least would be possible with a built auto.

Not to mention Camaro's fall apart, rattle boxes at best. Take the supra.

I put a 2.5 inch exhaust on my car from the stock turbo back, a small crappy HKS drop in intercooler, intake and 10 psi of boost and beat a lt1 camaro without much trouble at all, and on the top end i was walking away. im also on a stock auto and 100% stock turbo thats leaking oil pretty bad.

sorry (not sorry...) but no car compares to the mkiii supra. if i had all the money in the world, id have a mkiii supra, and it would still be my favorite car.

the design of the car can not be compared to any other car (besides unavoidable similarities from other cars having the same FR layout)

the mkiii is the most beautiful car ever produced. period. on top of that, it came with the 7m, a very capable motor, the 1jz a capable and more idiot proof motor, and the 2jz can fit and be made to work with little effort.

I think a stock turbo Supra in good condition would be a great car. Honestly, a few wastegate shims and a 3" turbo back and you're well over 250rw and that doesn't even cost $500. You should be able to keep up with a stock LT1 Camaro at that point.

I'm not even fully BPU yet and I put about two buses on an LT1 Camaro.

Like quin said if you install a decent 3" exhaust, downpipe, open elemnet filter, and turn up the boost and a turbo supra will really wake up

It will be alot more than that. I'm at ~14000 and I haven't hit 300 whp. However, when I park next to Camaro's, I make them embarrassed.:)
