Is there a way to tell the difference between aftermarket and stock pistons without taking them out of the motor?

Alright! Well when I am looking under a girl skirt I know what I'm looking for but I don't know what I am looking at underneath a piston skirt.

Look at the valve relief and you should be able to tell if they're stock or not.

pulling the head is easy, taking the block aparat and putting it back together properly is not...

Taking the head off means ALOT of replacing of parts and machining.
I mentioned looking up underneath the piston skirt as this would only require dropping the pan.

its unlikely that your going to be able to tell without disassembling some of the motor. unless your superman and can see through the block....
Dropping the pan is not an easy task just to see pistons but it is the best, and possibly only way other than pulling them out of the block. All aftermarket Piston's I've seen have their logo forged under the skirt as Brent said.
Heh, I was picturing someone trying to look through the engine with x-ray vision or something but I see what you guys mean.
