Would a leaking valve cover gasket cause me to smoke a little when i start the car (its only sometimes maybe 50% of the time) and when i rev the motor. I have to rev it to past 4 for it to start throwing some smoke though. Oh and sometimes like if i have to stop at a red on a hill when i start going again it smokes a little.

Im pretty sure i dont have a BHG cause theres no oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil and im not leaking any coolant. I know that my oil is leaking/burning though.

could the valve cover gasket do this or what could it be??

Sounds more likely to be valve stem seals, or your piston rings.

if the smoke is coming out of the exhaust, then no the valve cover gaskets leaking wouldnt cause it to smoke. if oil was leaking on to the exhaust and smoking under the hood, then it would be a possibility. also, a bhg is possible with out oil/coolant contamination.

If it's out the exhaust, then it's burning oil, that does not happen from valve cover gaskets.

Valve stem seals are the most likely to cause a problem after leaving the car for a bit. It could also happen after extended idling, or right after engine braking, and getting back on the throttle.

Turbo? you only have three ways the oil could get to the exhausts.

1. valve seal
2. piston rings/cracked piston
3. oil seals in the turbo

Is there oil in you're IC piping? (sorry i don't even know if you have a BB turbo)

If it is just the occasional puff of smoke when you start it, and when you WOT it after driving gently, then it is pretty much just a supra thing. My 89t has over 150K on it, and of course it does this.. But I have a 91t with 60,000 original on it, babied all of its life, and it does the exact same thing.
