I know this is prolly brought up a good bit, but i'm rebuilding a motor and when we bought the car all the vsv's bsv's were missing or broken....so, is there a way to delete the vacuum system itself?...i know a few things require it, if i'm correct the fuel pressure regulator is one.....but i just can't seem to find anything on this...

but we took off the cruise control, so no need for that vacuum line, and the charcoal canister i hear can go......

The only vacuum you actually need to make it operate properly are the brake booster, fuel pressure regulator and on GE motors, the ACIS.

well i figured i need some of it:] Except the BOV;] remember you're in the NA section.
all i want to do is make the car run, and not crappy.....without all the clutter, and stuff to buy/find that i'm missing. SO we'll call it a "vacuum clean up";]

So i can remove the charcoal canister, plug the line, get a vented gas cap.

So the brake booster line is still there, so i can just hook that to the manifold.
no problem there.

Now for the fuel pressure regulator, i know i need the vacuum line, how would i need to hook it up and where to hook it up. Even though i thought all a FPR does is keep the Fuel psi at a constant and the vacuum is there to help reduce emissions during deceleration. so basically all i need to do it route it too a vacuum in the intake....Correct?

Also what does the vsvs bvs's etc do? i noticed they had a little filter thing on it...thats about it...

Probably a good thing to figure out exactly what each component does before deleting anything BD...

Our cars are a system and Toyota didn't put all that in there for no reason, sure the car will run without them but it may not run correctly.

I'll throw in my couple cents.

buy yourself some new silicone vacuum lines if you're worried about problems.. as long as there are no leaks, there is no downside to having vacuum operated systems on the car, it was designed to work with them.

BD: Good move all too often here we see people Cletus a Mk3 then wonder why the ECU falls into Limp mode and the car runs like a PoS :(

Always a good idea to figure out just WTF a part does before binning it ;)
(a lot of times it costs a fortune to refit parts on these cars that a previous owner thought were just put there so Toyota can make $$$ on parts)

Steve: GTFO!!! What? ;)
It's designed that way ya say!! <jk>
(good post)

So the vsv(Vacuum Switching Valve)

Looks to be part of egr system,

Bvsv = Bimetal Vacuum Switching Valve

as what i can see, it is a valve that opens up when the temperature is at a specific temp. i've always wondered why it was near the thermostat housing. It lets the gases from the charcoal canister into the intake.

no, you can not get rid of the vacum system. try this. unhook the vacum to your brake booster. cap it off and drive around the block. then tell me if you want to work that hard to brake. also without vacum the fuel presure would be set. i can only imagine the problems that would cause. hitting wide open throttle and still running the same fuel pressure as idle. but i guess i shouldnt say you cant remove it, because anythings possible, but i wouldnt cut my left nut off to keep it from itching.
