looks like its for a big ass boat engine.
My old high school machine shop teacher used to work on those 30 years ago.

yeah, thats big.. but not really that big when you start talking that scale.. look up the Wärtsilä-Sulzer RTA96-C... and be prepaired to be shocked.. lol..

Given the surroundings in that second picture, and the means of transport, I can almost promise you that is for a gas compressor station. We have those all over up here, I'm in the business of supplying them the rigging to not drop nice expensive pieces like this. ;)

I'll second the compressor station crank....but why is it out in the field? And I should shoot a pic of the radiators usually in front of the units...can make a guy feel small....

Maybe they're removing the crank from a station already in the field, or are building it IN the field? I don't know how maintenance or construction of compressors is carried out, never actually seen one up close.
