Before you go for the re-bore, check the cylinder specs. Just might be able to get by with a re-hone, std dia pistions and call it a day 
A re-build has always been in my mind something that depends on the goals of the owner. 300 HP is easy on the stock components...they will actually hold much more. The HG has always been the weak link, but properly done it will meet your goal Kai. I would consider using ARP bolts...same for the rods, and mains...it's just good insurance.
