I've been coersed into doing this thread by some peeps in chat, lol. And also doing this in hopes that it will keep me motivated enough to not set my car on fire :icon_conf

car background; 1983 Ptype, formerly had a 7MGTE in it. Bought the car as a rolling chassis for $200 (I wanted the car ONLY because it had the rare black leather interior)

car looked like this when I found it in South Carolina:

We brought the car home in August of 2004, where it sat for awhile, collecting dust. At that time, we still had our black 1985 we were cruising around in, but the car had suffered damage from a tire blowout and was on its last leg.

In february of 2005, we swapped the guts from my black 85 into this white car.

Wiring harness was completely trashed due to the splicing in of the 7MGTE harness it had before, took about 20 minutes of hacking up the 85 wiring harness to get the car running

The cars first good pix after being cleaned up and driven out to the boonies :)

Engine bay:
p501726_14.jpg

The cars hatch started rusting away, so I replaced it with one from an L-type parts car I had... half assed sanding and painting it to "match". L-type hatches don't have the spoilers, so she's wingless now.

April, 2006 we moved from Florida to SC.... the morning of the move, the engine started spitting oil horribly. No possible way we could have delayed the trip, we started the 600 mile journey anyway, dumping 2-3qts of oil in the engine every 75-100 miles :aigo:

Few months later the engine started overheating erratically, water was disappearing but we couldn't see any leaks. Compression test showed NO signs of BHG, had 180psi in every cylinder.

In August we moved from SC to NY, a 900 mile trip where the car overheated 3 times, still no signs of BHG.

(to be continued...)

In late October it was getting to the point where it would overheat within 10 minutes of driving. Car was still running good, til one day it faltered for a minute and the temp gauge spiked. I knew at that moment the HG had finally popped. Checked the oil, sure enough, milk.

Took 2 weeks to get a HG! Had one sent to me by a friend in cali, was bent in the mail.

p501727_1.jpg

Ordered a fel pro from Advance Auto, it arrived bent too! Finally a HG arrived that wasn't bent and we replaced it... #6 cyl was blown to pieces!

p501727_2.jpg

2 weeks after that, the #6 connecting rod somehow snapped in half, caving the block in 3 different places. No warning. Engine was running TOP NOTCH and then BOOM! It blew the starter clear off the bellhousing, which somehow hit the clutch slave cylinder and wiped the clutch out. Hubby was driving at the time and coasted into a parking lot to find this:

And there we have it folks! November 21st my engine ate itself, and that was the last time anything had been done to it. So my Supra sits, in limbo, awaiting for a heart transplant, or to possibly be junked? Who knows.

Current "plans", if you can call it that, is to make a home made 6MGE.... 7MG/GTE block + 5M head = sex. But I have no idea of when this will start, or if it even will right now.

Hope this thread kicks me in the ass to do something!

I guess I should run down the list of mods the car has (or had, whichever way you look at it)

Pacesetter header
2.25" exhaust
no cat
DynoMax ST muffler
RC ceramic coated intake
K&N Cone Filter
NGK plug wires
removed EGR
removed A/C
removed cruise control
removed washer fluid tank
removed heater control valve

The car weighs 3,010lbs with a full tank of gas and full stereo system (4 mids + 2 10" subs). Not too bad for a mk2 with leather interior (+15lbs over cloth) and a sunroof (+30lbs over hardtop)

The engine dyno'd 144whp BEFORE the intake.... sadly, I never got to see the gains from the intake before she died

Exterior "mods"...
L-type hatch replacement
2.8GT badge (only came on JDM version of the mk2, the Celica XX)
p501834_1.jpg

Interior mods:
130mph instrument cluster swap
Dual radio head unit (50x4)
Boss 4" speakers up front
Pioneer 5.25" in back
Alphasonik 10" + 400wt amp
p501834_2.jpg

Parts closet: (used to be huge, but moving up north we left everything behind :( )
spare ECU
AFM
XX Badges
p501834_3.jpg

p501834_4.jpg

And I hope to be getting this "uber rare" 6MGE ECU very soon :)
p501834_5.jpg

Wish list:
A running engine, duh
Coilovers
8 way adjustable AGX shocks
Black XX steering wheel
tail light louvers

Damn Tanya, those taillight covers are awesome! YOU MUST GET THEM!

Yes Ive wanted them for a VERY long time. But they are VERY rare and when they do pop up, they are VERY expensive! Last set I saw pop up on rinkya.com was $230! :aigo:

make a copy of them and re sell them!
duhhhhhhh
:)

HA, getting them is the hard part. I think the hubby will spaz if I say "hey babe, let's buy these $200+ tail light covers" as opposed to spending the money on HP mods, lol

Oh and plus, I NEVER have the money for these when I see them for sale. I have money now, and of course, can't find em!!!
