Switching out the non auto switch to auto for the passenger windows.

Ok the title sounds confusing but, I've been thinking about having the "auto" switch that is on the drivers side window to be put on all the windows...sorta like the Scion TC, if anyone has seen how the work. Here comes the usual question, has anyone ever considered this? and to the electrical gurus, what kind of a job am i looking at here?

I've considered it, when I saw that the switch box on the driver's side is one unit that looked pretty integrated I dropped it.

If you had a spare from a junker to dissect I'm sure it could be done somehow.

If you can make it fit the wiring would be simple. I've repaired/modified many driver's side switches. Different led colors, increased brightness, repairs, etc. For those of you who've never torn one of the things apart all the way down to component level it's quite a piece of engineering. Talk about needless complexity.

Well how about pulling one off of a TC? both sides, and as you do that you also change out the old looking switches for newer looking ones.

If its so overly complex... wouldn't that make it poorly engineered?

There are plenty of aftermarket units available which will do the same thing. Some addon units for car alarms will do what you're looking for... most don't require an alarm to function either. Search Ebay.

Some of these you press the button quickly for the auto mode, some you hit it twice for auto up or down and some are the opposite.

Simply wire this in and it will give you auto up/down on the passenger window from BOTH switches.

I've had this unit for many years now and it works GREAT!

Why make things harder on yourself than you really have to? Give it a + and a - and then connect it in between the passenger switch and the motor and you're done. It even sits nicely inside the door panel. No need to replace switches at all.
