Indeed. Although, I suppose I should have said "one thing". Any one of those will make a difference where an old car is concerned, all of them and you'll stick to the road like that surgical adhesive they play with in underground fetish clubs.

Not that I ever would, but I'm now never going to go to an underground fetish club...

Something I posted over there ;) <pointing at SF>

Not wanting to start shit but these Bars are 9 parts useless in our cars...
(thanks to SR49 for the great pic)

Shock load/force is along the blue line as our cars are double A Arm suspension so there are minimal side loads/forces being transmitted to the shock towers.

"A" becomes a pivot point allowing the force to deflect along the red arc line.

Any "improvement" is likely to be the placebo effect, If the Bar had 2 or more bolts one above the other it would make much more sense or with some Triangulation back to the firewall but as is it's just a pretty Chi Chi.

ST bars, Poly Bushings, and TEMS, the only way to fly, one button your smooth as silk the other you harden up. all the aftermarket shock combos, struts will give you great pure racing stifness, but man they are gonna be sucky rolling down the 5 at 45 mph in traffic bouncing up and down like there's no suspension at all. BUT when my TEMS are dead I'll have to go aftermarket:(

The best "strut bar" would go from FR to RL and FL to RR.

But that isn't possible.

I have actually been measuring to make a triangular strut bar against my firewall.

Well thats when I had an interest.

There are minimal Steering/cornering forces going through the Towers and the layout of most strut bars/braces isn't triangulated so they're a total waste of time and money other than the placebo effect they're useless.....

Hello Ian,
Boy when you get on a rant, you don't let go...reminds me of the moray eel that wouldn't let go of my spear gun, even after I got out of the water.

Stock, chassis deflection backing out of my driveway while turning allowed both wheels to remain on the ground. Installing the front JIC CF stb altered the dynamic such that the same backing out of the driveway would lift the inside wheel off the ground. Beneficial? Dunno. Significant? Perhaps not, but def not mere placebo...it did something, triangulated or not.

You say an stb does nothing. I say it does. I'm willing to leave it there, are you?

Pics of that would end the argument once and for all.

R/R the bar, mark the driveway, have an assistant guide me so I take the exact same path, then take pics...all to prove a point on an Internet forum? Umm, no. At 46 yrs old, if anyone chooses not to believe what I say, I move on. If that includes you, then do the same...move on.

what brand bar did you use?

I'm thinking ones like the cusco that may stop twisting as well would work better (the real TRD one for the MKIII is thick and looks to actually preload the strut towers)

It's not that I don't believe you Larry I'm happy to be proven wrong and would thank you for the education...

Should be as simple as Back out take pic drive back in without touching the steering unhook one bolt on the bar and back out again take pic 2..

Again I'm not trying to start shit it's just that I fine it hard to believe the front clip of a Mk3 has that much torsional flex.
