Ok, so I have not been on here in a while, and I hope I still remember the proper etiquette for these.

87 supra-7m-gte
decently modified
86,000 miles
no rust never seen snow
Needs restoration on normal wear and tear

First, I did search but am extremely short of time with work and did not find proper information to satisfy my questions.

Suspension:
Mine are shot. I am looking for a coil-over or spring strut combo. I don't know what to go with. I don't race or anything and would like them to last a long time without any maintenance. I dont want a huge drop and would like a great ride and good performance when I do decide to drive hard.

Any info or opinions would be great. I was leaning toward coil-overs but started reading that they need to be re valved or something.

Like stated earlier I am restoring the car. Is there anything besides new suspension and poly bushings that I need to consider. I was thinking sway bars also. I dont know much about poly bushings, but the car is pretty squeaky and makes noise in the suspension so I figured that I would just replace everything.

Any input on anything would be great. I want to do it right the first time.

Thanks!

Go to the MISC vendors area and message Grimsta about the bushings. He can get a good deal on a full set of bushings for the front and rear.

A good ride can come from Tokicos and Ebinachi springs but Grimsta is selling a set of coilovers but I don't know about the quality of them. I always use Tien and put them on the softer side after finding the medium setting.

For a basic set-up I loved the Eibach springs, Tokico Illumina TEMS shocks and Suspension Technique sways. I had these on an old 87 and the car railed and wasn't very harsh. I had stock bushings. Worn out bushings suck. I replaced them on my 89 but dont have much road time yet.

I went 4 years on them without having to touch it. Sold the car they could possibly have the same ones another 6 years down the road. Shocks/struts are maintenance items you will need to eventually replace them but it is usually a long time.

Eibachs are a great stock upgrade and with coilovers would actually somewhat decent through the corners. With out sway bars there very stockish swayish feeling going through corners.

Coil overs are iffy if you want them to last. Some are cheap and some cheap will crap out in less than a year and you cant rebuild them and some you can rebuild them.

If you go with coil overs i would go with stance, You can get them for like 900-1000 if you shop around. Tiens are good but there out sourced nowadays.
