1. Be able to use the power before a shift (turbo lag)

2. less shifting

3. less wheel spin

400hp is a lot to have @ below 40mph (~37). I'm not saying to have something like a 60mph 1st like a Z06.. that engine makes crazy power @ 2K. But I'm sure it does not make 400hp @ 35mph.. see what I'm getting at? Manage the power better. Make go faster!

We're talking about a competition for acceleration here, not top speed. Longer gears for our car would also mean 1. More initial lag 2. below powerband upon shift into the next gear. You'd have to overrev a gear just to be close to peak output for the next gear.

I think stock R154 and 3.73's is ideal, and would not go any lower than that. Especially not for acceleration.

Unless this is a 60-180 roll race, stay with stock turbo gears.

i know how it all works..i just was wondering what i needed plus i got an 02 R1 that will smoke anyone who wants it... im getting injectors and sutff soon.. and its not a regualar rebuilt ct26.,.. its a t04 60-1 and rated for 600rwhp and 35 psi.. but i dont plan on running more than 18psi max on stock internals..

I will race you with my 7M Z car. :biglaugh:

I have a full T4 60-1 and they are only good for just over 500 RWHP pulling out every trick you can think. 600 RWHP is very very optimistic for a T4 60-1 and a total dream on a CT/60-1.

At 18 PSI you should have just about 400 RWHP with a real T4 60-1 and all other supporting hardware.

Also a Lex afm and 440's do just fine, my WB shows the factory TCCS has plenty of head room to pull the fuel back to match the extra air. I have been up to 22 PSI and the WB looked OK enough to stay into it. I really couldnt go much higher safely.

Loosing weight is the KEY!!!

start throwing up to lose 10 lbs, gut the interior, run with an 1/8 tank of race gas, no spare. oh and get some 550s and turn the boost up to ~23-25#. its all about 3 things, traction, power and weight. from a 40 roll, traction isnt too much of an issue. now work on the power and weight.

From a 40mph roll, I hung about 1.5 cars back from my buddy with the '01 12 second Camaro SS.

My mods:
3" elbow (non-DDP)
3" full exhaust (no cat)
16psi (brand new 57trim CT26)
2 cylinders with bad rings :D
2.5" hard pipes, bigger spearco replica IC
stock 440cc injectors
walbro 255
MAFT-Pro and a bunch of tuning!

That was 40-~125mph roll - he pulled immediately, and then held there.

coulda woulda shoulda - I try to avoid bench racing. I ran what I had, and it turned out to not be enough. :)

Hence why I'm bringing more on this next round :evil2:

Had I been running a fresh 7M, I think it would have been very close.

Yes, I have.

Yes, it can be done. But a 300 rwhp Supra will lose to a 300 rwhp LS1 Camaro. Same with the 400 rwhp range. You need to out power it with our smaller "area under the curve".

exactly.

a 300hp NA/SC motor will demolish a 300hp turbo motor, every time, without fail.
