About 10,000 miles ago according to the receipts, the previous owner installed stainless steel brake lines to replace the factory ones. Last nite while i was driving, a minivan cut out in front of me and i went for the brakes and heard a pop and guess wat happened.... pedal went straight to the floor. Fortunately i downshifted and pulled up on the handbrake and stopped in time and no damage was dun except for those two long skids marks i left...

I limped the car home, pulled off the front driver side wheel and see the line was cut. It seems as if the line running from the firewall to the cylinder was a little bit too long was bended a lil 2 far i assume when the wheel travels up and down and cut itself. Just like how if you took a garden hose and bend it in half. I guess the stainless steel mesh split apart a lil and cut the rubber hose on the inside. This is just a warning that stainless steel brakes are not indestructible and make sure they are installed correctly. Im glad they didnt go out on me on the highway...... i dont know maybe he bought some universal kit or installed a kit tht was made for a different car or a different model supra cause i dont believe the lines should almost make a loop.

yeah its been discussed quite well in the past even to what lines have more attention put into them when it comes to these. i think it was the goodrich who have the clear coating on them. although i have had my earls for 2+ years now and nothings wrong, havent heard of them cutting in half maybe post up a picture or two? the most severe i have heard was leakage

Somebody may be out to kill you.

lol, no srsly.... I've been considering getting the Earl's Brake lines from Suprastore. I hope that won't happen with those.

i had the earls lines on my old supra and the front left line started leaking at the fitting after maybe 8000 miles.

stock lines seem to out last any thing else. i didnt even notice a difference between the two.

for me, i stick with stock toyota brake lines from now on.

hey lagged i see ur in nyc, im tryna hook wit sum ny folks ill send u a pm.

But i did some research. This race inspired product was invented to protect brake lines from track debris left by accidents the driver sometime has no choice but to drive through. The firmer pedal and faster piston actuation was a side benefit. I read that normal race teams change the stainless steel brake lines after every every since the wheels are of between events anyway, but I'm unsure of the credibility of my source. I also read something about synthetic cloth braided lines? Anybody ever heard of them before?
