well my clutch has started slipping on me.... i noticed it about 2 weeks ago when i dropped it in second, usually my tires spin but instead the motor pulled to redline and i wasn't accelerating .:icon_mad: anyways i was out last night and it was pissing me off, i dumped it in 5th gear and it still ran all the way to redline no problem.

ive had it with spec this clutch has been run with around 425 hp for 8-9 k miles, granted i was decently hard on it but thats lame.... rated to 520tq :nono:

anyways im thinking i'll just keep the PP and buy a new disk, what do you guys think i should go with? i want something with prospects of maybe holding 700hp. I was looking on horse power freaks and they've got 6 puck and other disks for around 150$ but none of them have ratings. they only one that does have a rating is theirs and its 350$ which seems a little excessive. so whats your recommendations?

i ate up a spec stage 3 with 325-350whp in about 6000 miles. needed a new flywheel too. the 6 puck had grooved the flywheel and the pressure plate about 1/8 inch deep and about an inch wide. went back with an RPS blue plate special and an autozone lifetime warranty disk *wink wink* and i have put 13000 miles on it with no appreciable wear and no chattering like the 6 puck disk. i doubt it'll hold the huge hp #'s but according to rps when they make the same set up with a street disk it'll hold quite a lot. my $0.02

^^^ i hope that didn't happen to mine... scary thought, did you buy a stock oem disk from autozone then? i definitely need a tougher disk, im thinking about even going unsprung.

Unsprung will eat thrust washers in your transmission. $5 part, $500 in labor to get at it.

If you want something to hold 700+, you're going to need to buy a new pressure plate and disc. I'd suggest something from RPS - extra heavy PP and a bronze or feramic disc.

Yeah, i had gotten the oem disk from autozone and put it under an RPS blue plate. so far so good, boss 550 525 hp model @ 18 psi no slippage ;)....#1 cylinder died though so when i have the motor out again i'll check the disk and see if i need to cash in the lifetime warranty :D

Aaron, whats with your site? says the domain name expired.... Do you have anything stronger, if i start tearing it down again i will probably be upping my goals to 650-700 HP

Dont forget most clutch capacities are Crank power, not wheel power. So 425hp, figure torque pretty close being a 7M, By the time you take into account loses through the driveline, you are just under the 520 I would say.

:aigo: IDK how I let that go, should be up shortly. :nono:

At 600hp it would be ok, but at 700hp I'm not sure. You would probably need a multi plate clutch, but they cost a little over 3x the price.
