Shouldnt, just pull your plugs and look for lean conditions and watch your FP. What AFR do you hit WOT 3rd gear?

I'm running a aem wideband so I know instantly if I'm running too rich or too lean

I was getting around 13+ afr at wide open throttle around 3500ish rpm so I let off. Just taking it easy cruising until its properly tuned for now

bad day when i went to go to Kennys house to tune

we hooked everything up to his laptop, started tuner pro rt, and started to head down the road. once on the road i put the pedal to the floor to do a log on the laptop, but wouldnt build any boost at all. the turbo just makes a whining noise, kind of like running a coordless drill. so i didnt get any tuning that day

no pre-tubo exhaust leaks and am going to check for boost leaks/codes soon.
another thing i noticed today was the compressor wheel was scraping the housing a little.

could this cause the turbo to get slowed down and not build boost after it heats up and expands?

If the compressor wheel is touching the compressor housing, stop running this turbo, PERIOD. It is already causing irreversible damage, if you keep running it you risk shattering the wheel and tossing the blades into the intercooler.

Well, I think it is the turbo, I've narrowed it down as far as I could and looks like that's the last part that is acting up

Time to send it to a quality turbo rebuilding shop. Has anyone tried alamo turbo in Kent,wa? Or maybe Albert

Albert quoted me 200 bucks to rebuild my hx35. Which is a very fair price and he's extremely recommended by the SM members.

Awesome. I'll have to message him.

Although I think I may need a new compressor housing and definitely a new wheel

I don't think they actual do the work, they just handle the transaction and have a turbo builder that services them (from what I understand). More of a "give it to us and we will handle it". Their builder is supposed to be good though.

yeah, thats alright. this new turbo should be more than enough for my power goals. plus some!

i decided to go with the 62mm billet wheel

good thing i have a new intercooler to install, i think im going to get that installed before the new turbo goes on.
cant wait!
