Picked up one of those universal front lip thingy's off of ebay. It turns out there are multiple variations of these. Some being cheap foam rubber, others being surprisingly dense synthetics. This is the latter. I originally threw down some coin for a Shine Auto lip. Even though I loved the way it looked, it was just way too low for me to drive around. I know, I'm a total puss, but I couldn't stand scraping that sexy thing on every driveway and parking lot exit. So I removed it and installed this ez-lip thing in its place. The end result looks very close to stock, and even though it isn't nearly as sexy as the Shine Auto lip, It makes the car easier to live with. Now, pics!

My only complaint is the way the lip flares up towards the end of the bumper. I haven't figured out a way to straighten it out, but it's not that big of a deal.

Anyway, just wanted to share just in case anyone was curious about how these things would look on a mkiii. Also, my Shine Auto lip is up for grabs, probably going to make a separate post for that one :biglaugh:

You could probably get some aluminum angle stock and rivet it in the sides to hold it straight. Might not look as slick as I'm imagining though.

Love it, and it looks OEM! Do you know if they have a 2" version?

unfortunately I think it only comes in a single width, but you could message the seller and ask. He's real good at answering questions!

Might be a little too pricey to ship, but I do have the original box. I'll see if I can figure it out and and PM ya!

That could work and straighten it out, but like you said, maybe not so much aesthetically haha

I've been considering going back to the 88 front end (for a couple reasons, but one of them is the fact I scrape everywhere i go.. lol). I think a metal bar would definitely hold better (I think the stock one has a bar in the correct shape.. but i may be wrong).
Would rather scrape something easily replaced rather than chip up my fiberglass bumper...

oh.. and something I might add... when I was being trained as an upholsterer... (back in my youth) I learned that a couple staples would create a smooth look if placed appropriately... a lot of staples makes for a bumpy edge. If you can make the rubber/plastic lip stay on with less attachements, the edge will look smoother... but it takes a little playing. A tack strip (paper strip with tacks/nails in it) used on the back of a sofa hold a nice straight edge. a Curved metal strip to hold on the plastic would have the same effect.

Yours is great.. but the tiny things like that drive me nuts on my cars... lol

damn you... I ordered it. I've got a CFX carbon fiber lip. but won't make it out of the driveway without scraping it. This looks like a decent alternative to finding a mint stock lip. Maybe I'll just put the CFX lip in for meets haha

Nice little write up, I purchased the same lip a couple months ago.

What hardware are you using? I haven't gotten around to installing mine yet.
