I know I saw a great write up on this so I did a search and can’t come up with anything. I need to remove the black trim around my rear deck lid to refinish. Especially the top part where the sprayer is mounted. It's coated with plastic that has peeled off and looks nasty. Any help getting pointed in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

I will say this, be ever so carefull!!! That trim usually self destructs apon removal. All you really need is a good screwdriver, mabey a small ballpeen. Top clips on and so does the bottom. The best way that I found to remove the sides is to slide the side pieces out of the track. I think I just tapped a little to get started and slid them up. You need to remove your corner pieces first then its all good. The top and bottom you can slide out of the clips as well, tap and then slide. Installing back on is the hard part!!!!!
Good luck

Just strip all of the plastic off, and use some 3M electrical tape like me! Lasts, and looks better than you would think. :naughty:

sounds like you went to the WeezL school of Supra restoration! lol

Cool thanks I got the one top pc off. I see its Stainless too with high carbo conytent so there is some rust between the plastic and trim. I will char the plastic off, sand it down and paint it with a rustoleum ultra flat black. I will use the same color on all the trim so at least it will look the same and no peels. this trim from and rear is the only sad looking parts I have on my car so once I get them looking new I'll feel allot better.

Try a semi-gloss or gloss black. It's not "supposed" to be flat black.
