If your going to paint the whale tail black, do it in a trim black by SEM and do your trim moulding to match. If you've got the carbonfiber hood as well, it should even out the flow of color. Doing it flat black like that will give you a little bit of contrast but not too much to draw attention to that one thing.

Just my opinion. If you need any help hit me up, I'm just on the other side of Nashville.

here is a pic i took with my crappy digital camera the wing is flat black now...

the pics on my build thread show the car paint alot better because i took the pics with friends digital which is alot better than my camera but im not able to get ahold of it to take pics today with the whale tail setting on the car..

I dont really want too much black on the car. if the wing was black it would be flat black(trim black). just dont know if i want the molding black i was planning on painting it back red....

off topic we need to get a small get together up sometime..... I know before i got rid of my last supra there were plans to get a get together up in nashville. did that ever take place....

why don't you do an virtual picture with paint?
that could give you an idea of result if you paint in red or in black?

Look at it this way, it's just paint so it can be changed at anytime. You can get trim black paint at O'rielys for $10 for a large sparay can. I use that on any of the trim I refinish. Try it all black then if you don't like it paint the parts to fit.

any way the wind blows
I like the black. A member on here, Turbogate I think, has a red supra with the black whale tail. I like both...
But I think I'm more for the red.

ive seen mkiii supras with my set up with red whale tail and i like it but ive never seen a finished red mkIII supra with black whale tail to know how it would look....

this is just an idea me and my buddy thats painting the car was kicking around so i decided to get multiple opinions....
ive never been succesfull in changing colors on parts of cars in photoshop... i can do other things just not change colors of parts and make it look realistic.

edit: 9dmk3t im going to find pics of that car..

only problem with that xxxoitknightz is im running out of time to paint being i dont have a climate controlled shop to paint it in.. and my buddy is wanting to paint it this week..

probably going to end up red...

Place the wing on it, and put black tape in the place of your mouldings. That will give you a quick idea of what it will look like with and without black mouldings. As for the tail, I'm sure someone has a red sup with a painted whale tail on here somewhere.
