Yeah, I'm thinking it's going to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 1500. I was thinking about getting pistons and rods as well, but I think the stockers will hold up fairly well. If I wait a few months I would definately have enough money to go with the wiseco's and rods. Is it really worth it? Yeah, probably. But do I need it? No.

- Might I ask, what are your goals, what kind of power are you looking to make, and what mods do you have done?

- Steve
my goals for now(because of a limited budget) is nothing much more than stock, but i will have this car for the rest of my life so, with that being said, im never satisfied with having enough power. Eventually i would like to see 700 @the wheels, so i want to have a good platform to do that. My mods are pretty modest, i have a 3.5" dp, FMIC with hardpipes, hks ssqv, walbro 255, and no a/c and no egr. Nothing really to add power just a few changes, but after my rebuild, nothing can stop me!:evil2:

Just got back from the machine shop, and was quoted right over $1400 for the labor. BUT I did some deep thinking and thought hell the motor is already out might as well do rods and pistons. Sure it may take a little bit longer to do because of money issues, but I'm sure it will be WELL worth it in the end. I was thinking wiseco .20 over pistons and Eagle H-Beam rods.

- Where from and how much are you getting your pistons and rods for?

Once you know for sure what size pistons you need, i think there are some great packaged deals on ebay for wiseco pistons + eagle rods

I personally would not expect reliability with stock pistons and rods over 400hp. I'm sure it's possible and many people have done it, but that's not the definition of reliable to me :)

my pistons were 600 and i think that the rods were just under 500, but i dont know where they came from, the shop ordered them. i know that the pistons had to come from wiseco. anyways the pistons came molycoated with rings and pins and the rods came with arp, so not too bad i dont think, definitely worth the money
