humm pics on how this surge tank is hooked up and all?
From the Koyo Rad, it gets pressure thru the top fill neck over flow tube and then coolant is pushed into the bottom tank thru the former un-used coolant temp sender fitting. I'll try to get pics tomorrow 4U.

Sorry to hear that.
Oil getting past otherwise-good seals would usually mean there is too much oil pressure on the supply side of turbo (need more restriction) or that the drain isn't draining easily enough and is backing up. With a relatively stock turbo setup it seems unlikely you'd have too much pressure at the turbo, though... Perhaps it comes down to poor balance like VIP suggested.

The CHRA is shot after only three weeks!

I'm ordering a DM rebuilt CT26 and then sending the one I have in for a rebuild, so that I can have two turbos on hand from now on. When one is gone for rebuild, pop on the other... Very little down time!

4-7-14: I ordered the DM CT26 w/a 50 trim wheel. While talking w/ Aaron, he told me that from my descriptions to him of the wear on the turbo in three weeks, it seems as if there is some foreign matter in the bearing; it could be almost anything, including silicone from FIPG. When I went to pick the car up, I saw the stock gasket kit in the Toyota bag I gave them. When I take out the bad turbo then I'll see what was used. Aaron said that it is better to use the stock gaskets then FIPG and wouldn't use anything but the stock gaskets on the CT26.

I picked up one of these too, they are really well made. your build is looking good as always. keep it up your thread fills me with happiness.
I agree; the quality on the CT26 soft line kit is second to none.
How well did the 7M torque plate do to get the cylinders perfect?

hmmm never realized the purpose of surge tanks. Good to know :3.
In general terns; In a closed system, its purpose is to neutralize rises and falls in pressure to prevent system failures, blowouts, and other problems. Keeping a system running in its ideal range is what it does.

I got the rebuilt Driftmotion CT26... :) It needed to have its CHRA cleaned before I could put it on the car. :( There was some grit around the bearing. I cleaned it out with tiny toothbrush. Also I noticed some corrosion in the oil passage in the CHRA, so I cleaned that out too. In the process I was able to pull black grit out with my little finger. I flooded the bearing with oil based cleaner until there was no longer grit. Bearing has radial play but almost no axial play. The bearing may already be worn? I didn't put a gage on it so I hope all is WNL.
Additionally, the turbo I got was not the one I ordered. I asked for the turbine housing to be ceramic coated in turbo black; I got it in cermachrome. So is the wheel the 50 trim I ordered? :dunno:

Personally.. I'd order from Albert LONG before DM. Especially for turbo rebuilds..

Saturday, I'll start the turbo swap. The turbo has a 50 trim wheel, according to Aaron. I told him about the grit... and he suggested I send it back, but I'm putting it in anyway, as I'm satisfied I got all of it out.

O.K. I wrestled with the soft line kit longer than I ever have with the stock lines! I hope they perform better than stock...
Also, there was FIPG on the stock oil feed and drain line gasket! Again, Aaron said it is not good to do that as some of the FIPG could get into the bearing.
I'll be finished with it tomorrow and I'll take some pics.
