I took the tranny out of my 1987 supra. It didn't have 1st or 2nd gear. Well i took it apart yesterday and 1st gear shift fork was broken off and 2nd gear shift fork is broken. My question is: does anybody have any r154 tranny parts. Plus I don't know how to tell if the syncros are an good. Any suggestions.

If you have it apart, I would buy an OEM rebuild kit for it...and, perhaps the Marlin Crawler bearing retainer and thrust washer. You will need to get the shift forks at the dealer.

Umm isn't first and second the same fork? ;)

IDK I just figured that was it. I really don't do trannys that much. Needless to say that fork fell out when I took the extension housing off.

If you have 2 broken forks it'll be 1/2 and 3/4 ;)

Only trans I can think of that has 1 and 2 on different forks is an old Nissan thing from 180bSSS's way back in the day.

Just figured it might make ordering parts easier.

if 2 shift forks are broken then that means other gears have problems too?

im just guessing at this.

I have the tranny torn down. All the gears look okay and the syncros look like nothings wrong with them. I will replace them anyway. And get two new forks. the other forks are fine.

Meant it as more of a picture reference to back-up the TSRM since you said this earlier:

Pics always help for things like this. Make sure you pay attention to the placement/orientation of the parts...it's critical in a tranny.

dude...........there are only three forks. and the one in the tailshaft housing is for 5th. so yeah. you need the fork for 1st-2nd and the fork for 5th. replace the bolts too. and all i can say is getting those shift rails and interlocks (little metal balls and pins) back is a BITCH.
