You're determined to drag this out aren't you..... :nono:

this will not end happily.

There are VERY few Mk3 Supras capable of 200 Mph due to any number of reasons, it's not as easy as 500rwhp+stock size times+gearing+7850 rpm will get you there....

You seem to have taken this as some sort of assult on your manhood, go out prove me wrong and run 200 at the Texas mile or another sanctioned event post a vid and I'll withdraw my statements.

To the OP: 100 mph before with the auto should have been 3700 rpm, with the 154 it'll be 3950.(3850 and 4050 with a 3.91:1 diff)
(assuming stock tires and 3.73:1 diff)

I've lost sight of wether what I'm posting now is inane or not so i'll leave it at this.

I only posted in here because I was once concerned with the top speed an r154 could give me. (as i have significantly more power then stock)

After checking out the ratio's I found my concerns groundless as I'm able to raise my rev limit.

So I when I posted

raise your rev limit.

5th gear, 8000 rpm, 3.91 rear - with tires close to stock size will net you about 200 mph.

It was neither inane or irrelivant, as it would have been helpful for someone like me, seaching r154 top speed.

8250....

Can't say I've ever seen a "ZR" rated 225/50/16.... :p

I believe IJ's problem is with you saying 8,000 rpm's on the rev limit. It's much more complicated than *just* getting a standalone and raising the limit.

Did nobody read this post? lol

Must be your lucky day... These Kumho Ecsta SPT 225/50/ZR16 's are on all 4 of my sawblades... lol

Now to be fair i seached the internet before taking these pictures in the dark.... and 1 of 3 things has occured (or a combination of all 3)

1. Kumho no longer sells this tire in this exact model/series/iteration
2. The ratings have changed and Kumho changed with it
3. Kumho is no longer confident in rating this model at this rating

Don't worry, it's just more of my assumtions.... i assume that if you have the standalone you would get it tuned for the range. To be fair my standalone is at 7000 soft cut in 70 rpm increments per injector to 7350. I *could* raise it to 8000 but you're correct, more tunnig would be required.

Never said they didn't exist ;)

While you didn't, searching the internet revealed (for me at least) only 225/50/R16 for Kumho Ecsta SPT's

Had I made such a claim without evidence, the misinformation task force would have striked swiftly

Thread title: Re: r154 top gear speeds?

Lysdexics of the world... untie!

The thread is about top gear speeds in an R154 and A340E, not top speeds of the gears in an R154.

A small grammarical oversight, indeed.

Supra lover, the R154 ratios are as follows
First Gear: 3.250:1
Second Gear: 1.955:1
Third Gear: 1.310:1
Fourth Gear: 1.00:1
Fifth Gear: 0.753:1

Jack the rear end of your car up and support it with jackstands. Throw the car in neutral. take some whiteout and make a mark on your tire (put it on tread so it will wear off. Put a mark on your driveshaft as well. Spin your driveshaft by hand until the tire makes one full rotation. However many times you spin the driveshaft to accomplish this is your differential ratio. Last measure the circumfrence of your rear tire. Using this data and simple math you can figure out exactly how fast you will be going at any RPM in any gear. You could even make a graph if your feeling extra geeky. Then if your not satisfied with the speed-RPM figures you can select a diff that better suits your needs.

hvyman;1503849 said:
auto's have the same diff as manuals. the difference is what year the car is and n/a or turbo.

pre 89 turbos have a 3.91.
89+ tubros have a 3.73
all n/a have 4.3 open. sport package n/a has 4.3 lsd
iirc the 1jz cars have a 4.1 torsen.

ok i guess i need to follow the above steps and see what i have lol It's been replaced and i couldn't tell ya what's in it now... i'll have to look in to this...

yes i think it was lol while my goal is around 400hp I tend to baby my car and would never push it that hard... i can't afford a new motor or a rebuild lol in this spirit i thought 2500 was a bit much for 60 on a 6 cyl especially since i do mostly highway driving for long periods of time(and think what 85 is:3d_frown:).... my MPG has gone to hell now and this i'm not enthused about :: angry :: i'm getting 11mpg city and 18 highway... my tires a slightly larger than stock only one size though... A/F says i'm running perfect... so my main question was am i missing something or is this as toyota intended? lol
Speaking in terms of rpm to speed lol

thats horrible gas mileage, might need to change you o2 sensor. i get about 25 hwy and 18 streets.

in the U.S. we have quiet a few zr rated tires actually ij. my falken 912's (crap) are z rated but my potenza re960 are only r or w rated(forget) but the potenza's are 10x better.

In the stock size??
(again didn't say they didn't exist just that I hadn't seen ZR in that size)

My 7M was 28 highway and 20 town so yep 02 sensor would be the first suspect!

my money's on boost leak... who knows tho... give 'er the 'ole work over. (oh, concerning the bad gas mileage)
my n/a supra got 23 mpg on the highway and mid teens around town... while my lightly modded turbo supra got over 30 mpg on the highway and over 20 around town (i still put in more than $10 of gas a day, so just imagine how fast i got to work and school, haha)

my NA auto averages 18... a little more with long distance trips... however getting ready for a full gte/r154/turbo diff swap... so hopefully this will come up a little...

However... at 70mph... I'm turning around 3200rpm... is that what is should be??

Thanks

yeah stock size. there usually the higher priced better tires tho.

i got falken 912 zr in the front and some potenza 960 r rear. the 912's suck compared to the 960's tho.
