In a few months I will be getting brakes.(Rotors, pads and SS lines.) I will get all of the nasty old fluid and replace it with new fluid of course. This brings me to my question, can I change from DOT-3 to DOT-4? Would there be any benifit to this? Thanks in advance.

Will the alcohol eat away at any of the rubber.(After seeing what brake fluid will do to car paint and watch faces I dbout the alcohol will be much worse.) DOT-4 just means it has a higher boiling point than 3 right?

DOT4 is mixable with DOT3, so power flushing it with tons of DOT4 will work

DOT5 is NOT mixable AT ALL, DOT5.1 is THINK is mixable, but I wouldn't chance it...

DOT 5.1 is compatible with DOT 3-4 as it is glycol based, not silicone based like DOT 5.

I come from a land down under
The denatured alcohol will attract and transport any water that's left in the system preventing contamination of the new fluid......

Once you've pumped it through till it's coming out clear repeat with your brake fluid of choice (do NOT reuse what comes out of the bleeders) then once it's clear brake fluid top off and bleed.

and always flush out your brake system by putting new fluid in the top and bleeding it all the way through (or if your running alcohol through first do that) but never drain the system and then try and refill it, its bad for seals and pistons and stuff and its a huge pain to bleed after as well.
