Okay there's cliff notes at the end of this for people that browse through these.
First off: 88 7mgte 5-speed, just got done rebuilding it ( lived by the supra bible and took it to a machine shop, MHG, ARP head studs and all those other goodies
). When I got the car 7weeks ago, head was already off, the guy I got it from said to just put the PAPER head gasket back on it and call it good. Salami that!!! I yanked it out and went through the whole motor. All bearings, machined the head, block, crank, and got the rods checked out. Note: the machine shop I took it to works a lot on EVO's, 2J Supras and whatnot. Put it all back together and got the motor back in the car, torque the head to 80ft-lbs with the moly grease ARP sends with their head studs. I'm at the end of it all and threw the battery in and spun it over.
Nothing.
So heres a few questions.
1. Where does the main grounding wire from the battery hook to the motor?
2. What is that third line that comes off the fuel rail, and goed to the manifold? Why does it have a friggin' high pressure? And Why cant I fix it with a rubber hose?? Note: Last owner put the rubber hose on it.
3. Would the bad ground I pick on the motor beside the AC bracket cause my exterior lights not to work? Note: pull back on the turn signal and the lights pop up and come on, turn signals work. With the motor out, I hooked up to a battery to roll the window down and the lights did work.
4. When spinning the motor, ( again lived by the supra bible and it is in time, and so is the CPS ) doesn't sound like it's hitting at all. Gonna run a compression test, timing light, and use a can of Starting fluid :evil5: tomarrow (Sun.) When I get off.
5. Why does the Fuel Pump relay act like its on crack everytime I hook up the battery? I hook it up to power and it 'hums' on and keeps going. It doesn't turn off, I didn't let it sit and run, but I look at the third line off the fuel rail, No leak. Hop in the car and try cranking it, nothing, hop out of the car and check the third line off the fuel rail and it's bubling and leaking. Like under high pressure. And the fuel pump relay keeps going!!
6. Common things people forget to hook up after pulling the engine, rebuilding it, and putting it back in... I don't care how stupid it may sound, I want to double check myself.
That's about it, I'll keep on the Holy Search bar trying to find answers and keep searching the Supra Bible for answers but I'm kinda stumped. Any and all help is appreciated.
Cliff notes:
1. Where's the negative cable hook to the motor?
2. Does the fuel pump relay ever stop humming?
3. What's the third line off of the fuel rail? ( between the fuel rail and the intake manifold.)
4. Common things people forget to hook up after an engine pull.
