anyone who is worried about getting their car stolen should learn how to protect thier car. End of story.

You know, plenty of us have gone the distance with securing our cars. It still doesn't mean I want some shithead with a head full of bad ideas thinking my car is going to be an easy mark... something that all these posts about how to get in our cars without the key and how to disarm and disable the stock alarm does NOT help with.

Hell, even though I'm confident in my car's security it doesn't mean I don't care about the rest of the members on here. There have been plenty of posts about stolen cars across the various Supra sites this past year and anything that can be done to reduce the likeliness (no matter how miniscule the change might be) ought to be done.

This isn't just about the owner securing his own car, it's about being responsible with your knowledge for the benefit of the ENTIRE community! What's so hard to understand about this?

A simple but very slightly time consuming way would be to remove the circuit opening relay on any Toyota. Even better would be a mock up relay with no internal connectivity. So if the thief has knowledge, which they usually do, and run a quick visual, they might just leave your car.

All I can say is if anyone is going so steel my car, they are only going to suceed by dragging it away or pulling it up on a flatbed. They are NOT going to drive the car away thats for sure.

Telling someone to use a slim-jim on thier car is not going to effect the community, but I do have to agree with Nick in that you do risk breaking the switch if you dont know what you are doing. Any good professional car thief already knows how and what cars can be slim-jim'd and already has them amongest other tools of the trade and any little punk ass bitch car thief is just going to break the glass. So if your car is going to get broke it to, its going to happen regardless unless you build Ft. Knox around it and never take it out, but whether or not they actually suceed in taking the car, thats up to you in protecting that from happening.

well they wont be able to get away..very far if you have a BHG or a rod knock :naughty:

Yeah, true to a point.

The other thing is if they happen to drag or flatbed my car, I have a GPS tracking system on it (no, not LO-Jack). Its a true, real GPS tracking system from GPS North America. Tells me the exact location of the car and if its moving, showes me what road, direction of travel, rate of speed, If it were actually running, I could should it down also. So anyone want to steel my cars, go a head and try, your not going to get far.

Getting back to the original topic, I don't know what your dealership's problem is. Mine's a '91 (not much newer than yours) and they were more than happy to cut me a key from the VIN.

yeah i dont know, they couldnt use the VIN, but the 5 digit lock cylinder number worked. i went there this morning and it just so happended that the "database with the key code for the cutting machine" was down......lol......and couldnt get me it. so he told me that he'd call me when it was up. well after spending several hours working on my car, my brother came and picked me up, we went to the dealership and what do you know everything was up and working, but they didnt decide to call. somewhat of a wasted day seeing as i really needed to get my car started.

a plus though......i got the key for free. he said something about the model lock cylinder that i had provided a free key. i didnt get it, but whatever.
