Ok noob q and a time.. my 1j is suddenly not boosting..

alright i admit i am a total noob with the 1j (and 7mgte for that matter) but i do need help.

so im driving along and notice the boost gauge wasnt going past 0 (gauge is in bar) and the avcr was showing that i wasnt getting anything above .04 mmhg.. kinda strange i thought and the motor runs fine and everything but i can definitely tell im not boosting, but im not burning any oil (well.. no more than usual) and there are no funky smells (although ill catch a wiff of gasoline every once in a while). so any ideas? have searched for about an hour using every combination of "1jzgte" "boost" "spool" and "problems" i could think of and could only come up with 1j build threads.. thanks in advance for any thoughts..

edit: forgot to mention, turbos are stock CT12a so maybe they are dying?:dunno:

I thought they made a whining noise when they were dieing. I haven't ever had a pair installed on my car though, so I don't know. Have you checked all vacuum lines and intercooler piping?

yeah checked all (that i could see) that were attached to the turbos themselves and everything looked good and secure. as for the whining i hear nothing out of the ordinary (except at speed when i hear the turbos wanting to spool up) and thats about it. intercooler looks good too but ill check them over again.

Go double check each IC pipe and connection very carefully.

hey man it may be the turbos my last set did the same thing to me. i busted the the turbine shaft.

Definitely double check every coupler and clamp. I seems that you have blown one off for it to just out of no where give you zero boost. Even if it looks like it is secure, double check all couplers.

aha! i did a thorough double take and the coupling attached to nitrous port was loose on the bottom (leaving about a half inch gap) but looked completely normal from the top. tightened it up and im boosting fine now.. woohoo! looks like i will need to remove the adapter pipe and run a longer intercooler to intake manifold hose. weight off my chest though.. thanks for your help fellas!

haha yeah.. there is... but it came that way! apparently was never hooked up so thats a plus :icon_bigg

was planning on taking the whole system out over the winter and was looking at single turbo systems to install.. wanted to stay twin (to stay true to the badge) but leaning towards the single for simplicity.. plus the twins look like a giant pita to keep pulling and replacing..
