the bung will be high as possible, on the flange pretty well.. and that is good to hear.

so you got your relief shimmed 5mm, so thats above the toyota specs, but if you aint pushin oil past turbo seals.. cant hurt anything, thanks guys, gonna phone toyota in the morning.

will i phoned the dealer up here, got one coming on thursday for 403$!!! oh well its brand new, and least i know its quality.

so what do you guys think about the setup the thermostat is connected right to the filter head on the frame rail just infront of the washer resivoir, i had to take out the Lh horn to fit the cooler, and got all the hoses made at work.

That's a good size cooler. My only critique is the use of the fittings between the thermostat and the filter head. Those tend to be restrictive (a hard 90 is = 10' of hose), but it looks like you used two 45 deg vs a hard 90...that should be ok. You used hoses with crimped hose ends? ;)

Is that a Wix filter?

yah i used to do a lot of air brakes and i know 90's are bad and two 45 is a bit better, but i couldn't get away with just one 45 unfortunealty. yah there jic fitting and an8 hose, and fittings(1/2") measured, cut, fitted, then took it all off and pressed them.

its a napa gold, which i was told is the exact same.

Wooww, that is really expensive for a pump. Canada must be a bunch more than here in the US, they are usually only 250 to 270.00

Use washers to shim the pressure relief spring. Just get the right size to fit sung in the hole and stack them enough to equal 5mm. You need the hole in the center from what I've seen.

well i got my pump and shimmed it 4mm just a tad over. my next question is do i have to do anything to the pump or just install it dry? i have heard of some people packing the pump with assembly lube(lubriplate)

second off does anyone here do dry starts?(after a rebuild or oil change even) ie pull the efi fuse and turn the engine over to "pre lube" the remote filter, therostat, hoses, cooler, bearings and top ends???. i dont feel like doing the accumsump or what ever its called- but in the future i'm gonna hook up a pump thats controlled by a pressure switch and primes the system before eng cranks. most of our equipment have them at work.

no no i wasn't trying to knock your method by any means if you've done it for that long it must be tried and true. i just thought being that thick it would hang up in the filter and does grease bond with oil??

Dry initial start or dry as in daily type dry?

Initial = Never I always wait till I see pressure on the gauge before connecting the Zap.

Daily = The Filter "should" have an anti drain back valve and modern Oil is pretty good so it doesn't phase me at all I just hit the key and go :)

GR: Nope it's plumbed as an accumulator only no valve at all.
